Has anyone ever hired someone to just go out and sell for them? Maybe pay a guy $60-$75 per job sold? my only fear would be that the guy would just eventually quit and think that he could just start up his own rc company.
I trained a young roof cleaner persoanlly, awhile back.' He was a good kid, and put his time in with me in Tampa. He went out on his own down in Miami. He would hire girls to pass out flyers, on a straight comission deal. The flyers were rubber stamped with an "Ask For Cindy" or an "Ask For Wendy" This way, he could track what girl to pay. He did really good, until he got back into drugs ... Plus, a lot of the girls were "all over him", once they saw him make over 1000.00 a Day
Hmmn ....wonder why

We have them. It can be a sticky situation as I have had 2 that have tried to take the knowledge gained and shoot off on their own. Thank goodness for non-competes. They do protect you some. Every location differs on pay structures and methods used due to solicitation guidelines. I remember this topic from before. So if you were to research it, I am sure you will find all the answers on the pros and cons you are looking for.

Safe roof cleaning!
You are always gonna have competitors. Pay the salesman good, then they stick around ?
i compleatly agree if someone is making a good paycheck something they feel is close to or equal to there work load then the are unlikely to leave. now if they feel like they are not getting what they deserve for there sales then this problem can be fixed by proper training to increase there profit per job whitch will increase there pay check making everyone happy but this can only be done if you give your sales people the proper tools to close the deal. in basic terms you cant just hire a salesman and tell them to go sell something they will be unsucessful. Selling is probably the most important part of our job ive always thought the RCIA should have a deadicated section to sales training. i run at about a 95percent closing ratio and couldn't survive any other way

I will be the salesman of my business thank you. I don't think many folks here are ready for a salesman. if your going to hire someone, why wouldn't you put them on the roof cleaning? We should be working on our business and not in it.
It makes no sense to tell some stranger all your business while your working on roofs doing the grunt work. LOL .
it would just depend an where you are more valuable to you biz some poeple feel better doing the work some just dont feel confident selling and would rather spend there time making sure the customer gets a quality job and leave the selling to someone with a more salesman like mentality some can do both in not disputing that but the question would not keep coming up if everyone felt they are not missing any biz that being said anyone with less than a 50 percent closing ratio should start putting the same effort into trying to better there sales technique as they do there roof cleaning technique

I personally deal with everyone of my customers first hand. From getting the call and filling them a little on the phone to collecting when the job is finished. I used to be in sales so fo me it's a no brainer. You really have to trust your salesperson as they are the face of business. I they were to say something or give off the wrong impression there goes your sale. Most of the time I also sell more than just a roof cleaning. If the salesperson you hire has no prior experience then that is a lot of training, not something you can just pick up in a couple of weeks. I like dealing with everything first hand. Now if you get to busy to handle everything yourself then you might want to consider starting to train someone.
