If you go to their house and give them an estimate they get to meet you and talk to you face to face. Then you have a better chance for an up sell on gutters house wash and concrete cleaning.
I do agree with Movil Prowash!! is better to give an estimate face to face!! 99 % of the sales I do is by talking face to face with the home owner, I don't like giving prices on the phone because some times is my competision calling just to fid out how much will I charge!!!
Seeing the property in person is the best. I got a call to clean a deck because the owner was out of state and prepping the home for sale. I took some photos and by the time I finished I had washed the house, cleaned the deck, cleaned the gutters repaired window screens, pressure washed the concrete and reworked the landscaping along the sidewalk. I couldn't see all that on a sattelite view.
I always do a face to face, I have no idea what the inside or outside of gutters look like, and its to easy for them to shake you on the phone, never ever does a good salesman quote over a phone.... this is not my opinoin ,its a fact..

I also have a lot of experience in sales, nothing beats face to face, you never have the chance to sell yourself over the phone,if you cant build repor with your customers it doesent matter what your product is,and in most competative markets the over the phone would not stand a chance, with that being said, the jobs you sell will be on price only most of the time,i personally refuse to be the cheapest and i still believe that you can still get what you pay for,and get paid what its worth to do it,but looking at that google map before going to a estimate just for a little heads up might not be a bad idea if you have the extra time, thanks for the info and listening to my 2 cents
I agree, we almost never give an estimate over the phone. We actually look the address or homeowner up on the property appraisers website for the county in which they reside. This assures your square footage will be accurate. Although, you do have to add the pitch of the roof. Face to face allows you explain this and as said allows you to present yourself. We also have a small portfolio that we carry to allow us to show customers our license and insurance documents along with pictures. We also do a printout of the roofs we have done close byas a reference. Then the upsell. It's hard to upsell when your not looking at what your are trying to sell.
Guaranteed, the one who shows and presents their service will get the job. Regardless of price.
I also feel that a personal face to face with the customer is the only way to sell a job. I've had customers that were skeptical about having their roof cleaned, after going and speaking with the customer and briefing them on the whole process they completely changed their thoughts. You can just be a lot more personable and would get jobs that you probably wouldn't by spitting out some numbers over the phone.

Shawn,
I just have top poke a little fun your way? No offense I hope. I was just up very early this morning and I was on the A-R-c-A and the RCIA as well.
I was looking over your website and noticed your 888 number.
I said to myself, very cool! Impressive! Good for Shawn!
Then as I said it (the toll free number) to myself several times I began to crack a smile ROFLMAO
If you read the number over and over you will see why too?
