Hello everybody! I have to give thanks to everyone for the abundance of information I have gained from reading and searching on the site for a couple of weeks now. I put my setup together on a budget, and in a real hurry cause I already scored a 7 condo job. I'm a little nervous to have such a large job to start with, however, I have really done my homework. I bought an old trailer off of a farmer, and a couple 50 gallon John Deere tanks that usually mount on a tractor. I plumbed everything together and got a 5 gpm Delavan pump...little smaller than what I would like, but like I say it was on a budget. I made my own wand with pvc and a 1/4' quick connect. I have a 25 degree (green) tip on my wand and also played a little with a detergent tip I also had. My big concern with any tip I've tried is the fine mist overspray that seems lethal to me even with just a 1 mph wind. I'm really concerned with the nature of a pre**ure washer tip and the overspray mist that it creates. Am I using wrong kind of tip? Is there anything i can do about this? I understand that I am suppose to wet everything well to avoid problems, but I would like to try to eliminate the problem at the source as much as possible and rely on wetting down only as a fail safe.

I use the 5850 Delavan (5 gal/min).  Here are a couple of pictures of the spray wand I put together.  I use a 4 way quick connect with 0040, 0540, 2540 and 4040 nozzles attached.  Look at the openings on the one picture.  Now look at the opening on the 25 degree pressure washing nozzle.  There is a big difference.  Hope this helps you.

BTW, nice job on getting the condo project.

Yea the pressure washer nozzle is NOT what you need.

Call Bob at Pressure Tek and get what you need. You may find them at a local pressure washing store/repair facility. Northern Tool if you have one. You want a nozzle that is rated for 4 gallons per minute.

Thanks for the info guys! I will definitely get a hold of that Pressure Tek also. The best thing I have around here for stuff like that is a Rural King. Not sure if anybody is familiar with that or not, I think they are mainly mid-west. Anyways, I have seen tips like this in their store except they are plastic instead of brass or metal but I think they are the same thing and will work until I can order some good ones. The only other question I would have would be on the nozzle numbers you use "0040, 0540, 2540, and 4040..". Are these standards numbers or propriety to a certain brand? I definitely see a difference in the nozzles in your pics compared to a pre**ure washer tip. If I had to pick 1 nozzle for now that I would probably use the most, which would you recommend?

You have to order a minimum of $30. Those are the sizes of the 1/4 meg nozzles. You also want to get a nozzle holder so you have all 4 on the end of your wand like in the photo.

I got my nozzles and 4 way holder from Pressure Tek. Talk to Bob.

I think the 1st 2 numbers represent the width and the 2nd 2 numbers represent the flow.

Example: 4040 is 40 degree spray at 4 gpm.

Thanks guys, that info really helps out alot. It would be really nice if there was some type of chart or article that explains the differences between all the different types of nozzles out there. I did find a little article, but mainly for horticulture spraying. If I find a good article and/or chart I will post for everyone to see. Its a great thing for all "the guys" to tell you whats best, but it's much better to have a firm understanding of "what is" and "why".

Lori from www.pressurewasherproducts.com has been offering excellent pricing and customer service to all of the RCIA members. Check their web site out. If you don't see what you need, call them they probably have it.
