It seems that many non-pressure roof cleaners also do "pressure washing".  I've read about using "our LOVE" on other things around the house.  I also realize (I think) that this chemical cleaning is referred to as "soft washing".

I do NOT do power/pressure washing so I hope that someone could tell me what else would make for an ideal "up-sell" for us users of the LOVE keeping in mind that I don't own a pressure washer?

Woody I don't want to go to much into this just because this is a roof washing forum. I know someone will say something soon, you may want to post this in the shade area. You can go to pressure washing institute.com. If you need to google it, there is a lot on there based on pressure washing, and soft washing, good luck.

Cleaning houses, screen rooms, driveways, sidewalks,  especially vinyl siding and aluminum soffits, clean right up with the watered down roof cleaning chemical.
BEWARE, if your roof cleaning chemical contains HIGH concentrations of TSP, it can wreak havoc on windows, screens, and paint!

Always best to use too LITTLE TSP, then too much!

I wish I had a dollar for every extra 100 to 200 bucks I made when a customers said "Chris, my roof loooks so good now, it makes my house look ugly" !!
But .... that was back when I was still working.
'I seldom walked away from Money !!!
Now, we are mostly so busy cleaning roofs, that is mostly what we do.
I mean, why take a couple hours to clean a pool deck/screen room for 175.00 when we can clean a 400.00 roof in 20 minutes ??

But, when you are first starting out, you gotta git while the getting is good ??

Chris is right on that one! We've actually helped a friend who has been out of work for some time now, by setting up a trailer and assisting him in licensing, etc. He advertises all types of exterior cleaning with the exception of roof cleaning. His ad sttes 'WE DON'T DO ROOFS" For helping im get started we recieve 10% of all profits give or take. We do get a number of referrals from him for roof cleaning as well as us giving him referrals. This has worked well for us as it also assures customers we are not going to be usung pressue to clean their roof.

Win Win for both of us.

I'm one of the ones who does both. Like someone said. Check out Pressure Washing Institute, PT State, or even The Grime scene. I'm also a member on those boards. You will learn a lot about Pressure Washing/ Concrete Cleaning etc...over there from some very knowlegable people in the industry. Great bunch of guys too!

It is all about the tools you use to clean roofs with, and your experience.
My good friend Larry saw our speed first hand, cleaning a big church roof south of Tampa.

I share my secrets with others, so that they can be successful too.

You cant cut glass with scissors, you need special tools.
If you want to clean roofs fast, you must have a good chemical delivery system.
Personally, I like air  pumps, but some here use the Delavan Fat Boy roof cleaning pumps.
Large Diameter Roof Cleaning Hose is the secret to best pump performance and speed.
We are only fast at cleaning a roof.
We are Intentionally slow at the most important part of roof cleaning, protecting plants!
Roof Cleaning is NOT a Race.
We only like to clean roofs fast, so we can spend more time watering everything.
Plus, the faster you get on, then off a roof, the less your exposure time is to the Sun, and Chemical gasses !

Sonny, it all depends on roof cleaning prices charged in your area ?

Sonny, it does depend on what others are charging in your area but I believe one of the golden rules of the RCIA is a minimum of $300.  Take into consideration the cost of chems, equipment, equipment upkeep, truck fuel, insurance, advertising and risk...

Yea, this thread might be on the fringe but, I had hoped that the boss would agree that it has merrit on this side of the board.

I will check out the pressure washing forums right away.  Knowledge is power!

Chris, you've got an interesting point about the amount of effort involved vs. the profit potential.  I trust that I'll be able to be more selective in which work I'll take.  Right now, I'll take just about anything.  I won't however, work for beer money.  I'll need to make it worth my time.  If I'm only making $20 per hour, I'll just stay home with my kids.

Average house with average pitched asphault roof with typical landscape would be roughly 45 gallons of love.

Clyde, there is a whole thread titled "Average Size Roof" that discusses that whole topic. It is faily recent - within the last week it had new posts. Just look back through the recent post section.
