Titan hose reel 45 Deg fitting
Permalink

I recently got some titan hose reels a few months back from Lori at Pressure Washer Products. I seen a post about someone getting hose reels and the hose from Pressure Washer Products, some one posted about the hose kinking up. I had talked with Lori about an elbow or 30 or 45 Deg fitting. She sent me one with the hose I had ordered, No more kinked on the hose, I always reel out all the hose before I started cleaning but this will help it as the hose wears.  I have attache some pictures so you can see, if you would like to get them call Lori and she will get them for you.

That's too funny. I just had to replace my swivel on my reel today. It's on a Titan reel that I use for Roof Cleaning and for spraying concrete. I've had a bag catching all the leaking love for 2 weeks now. Figured it was time to fix it.

I've heard plenty of guys claim that they have problems with leaking hose reels.  Given the cost of them, is it really worth it?

Nice Close fitting FITTING, except that those RIGHT ANGLES, over time will wear on and eventually possibly wear thru your hose as you roll up and roll out, time and time again.

My suggestion for anyone else looking at this GREAT IDEA is to take it a step further and get ANOTHER 45 Degree Stainless 1/2" fitting, like the one that comes out of the manifold on the TITAN and since has ROUND features it will not be as abrasive and hard on the hose.

Hope this makes sense and helps someone.

The reason I say this is that I have been here, done that and got the T-Shirt.

It's No FUN having hose rupture while you are up on a ladder in the back of a property and all your LOVE is flowing into expensive flower beds, shrubs and trees. This can be avoided be keeping sharp edges AWAY from hoses, especially FITTINGS that RIDE with vibration on a daily basis.

Food For thought?

I will keep that in mind, When I roll up the hose I ususally keep it off those fittings until the second or third roll around. Thanks for the heads up on that with the fittings. I will keep them on on see how it goes, no problems with previous hose reels.

As for leaky hose reels, everything corrodes, rust and just needs replaced over time. I ran with out hose reels and with, I will run with them just for the convience of time to put hoses away, I keep my fittings usually leak free but again things to leak and wear after time.

We don't run chem through hose reels anymore. We put a quick connect on the hose reel and reel hose up that way. We un reel all the hose, disconnect it from the hose reel, then attach it to a quick connect pigtail coming off the pump.

Swivels are not unlike pumps in that they will eventually fail as the chem takes its toll on the seals. They are not cheap either. All around huge PITA in my experience. I avoid them.

Now that's thinking outside of the box - using the hosereel but NOT running chem through it.

KP, your post mentioned quick-connect fittings.  Do yALL prefer a certain brand or matieral?  I've got some plastic ones but, I can't imagine that they will hold up to SH...?

I use Banjo black poly quick connect fittings.

Stainless Steel usually.  They are expensive but hold up better than poly IMHO for this particular application.

That is some good thinking, but I will just use a hose reel for what it is intended for. My last hose reel lasted me 2 years before the stainless tube got a hole in it. Plus most of the fittings is nothing more than stainless 1/2 tubing. With my experience as a aircraft mechanic for 20 years, sheet metal repairs and tube bending I can just make then inside tubing once it rust out.

I do like your idea though, good job bro.

Those hose reel fittings look like they could be recessed down and out of the way a little bit better.  Even with that angled fitting, the hose and connection still look like a weak spot.  I don't own one but, are they set up so that they can be adjusted?

I have been told by many of you that the poly pro fittings crack over time. Is the minimal flow loss with poly worth losing the love compared to the corrosion with brass? Just want your feedback....

Thank you in advance.

Lori
