138394,

Thanks for that, I'll look into them!

We all would like to have high lifts and any fancy equipment to make our lives and jobs a little easier etc... Hell, its in a guy's nature to want those things.  BUT I agree with you, now is not the time.

Point is, damn Chris, rig's looking good. I'm guessing from all the comments on this thread, most guys would like a similar set up.  Keep us posted bud.

I have rubber boots called MUCKS they are excellent boots the best boots I ever had. excellent grip as well. about 120 dollar boots. last a long time.

I also heard to take sneakers and glue carpet to the sole which I tried, LOL.

then I bought  hiking boots with soft rubber soles.

when I'm cleaning I wear my muck boots
when I'm up on roofs riging or what ever I wear my hiking boots.

Note: Muck's boot Co has several boots just besure to get the full length boots with soft soles.

But I have wore my boots for nearly two years and the are very comfortable.

I used Tennis shoes for a few jobs. I sprayed Love over the top of my right foot one day, it saturated the shoe and sock. It started hurting and by the time I got my shoe off I had a nasty second degree chemical burn that took 6 weeks to heal.

I then went to rubber boots I picked up at Mynard's. Live and learn!

Hi Patrick

I only tried the sneakers out to climb the roof for rigging purposes. your right I would never wear them to clean in.

I wear high rubber boots all the time whether I'm Pressure Washing or Roof Cleaning. I hate having wet feet all day long and I hate burning Chem burns even more...Been there done that with the burns. Ouch! Had 2ND deg on my arms when it got down into the sleeves of my sweat shirt one winter and I didn't realize it till it was too late. Lots of sleepless nights.

Hi Chris - This is my first post, but I've been reading for many months.  I visited your website and I'm curious about your two year roof stain warranty.  Do you do anything other than clean, to prevent regrowth? Thanks, another newbie, Wayne

As long as I clean ther entire roof, I will give the 2 year warranty.  I do offer a maitanence contract for the customers that would like there roof to remain clean for the remaining life of the shingles.  You may notice that alot of the contractors on this board will offer some type of warranty with there roof cleaning.  Here's a little more info. on   Safe Roof Cleaning Warranty

Finally a weekend with no rain.  I got to work on the truck all weekend.  I got all my tanks mounted, and a couple hose reels mounted.  I mounted a new fatboy and got it wired, and plumbed all the tanks.  Work has been busy, so progress is slow, but I'm finally getting somewhere.  Here's a few updated pics.

Nice Job with the truck chris it is looking good, one question about the aluminum basket attached to the hitch, where did you buy that. I have a box truck and had the same idea for using a basket to put my air compressor on and one for the generator. If you could let me know it would be a big help. I have found some but there not to exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks guys.
The aluminum cargo carrier came from harbor freight.  http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92655
It normally sells for 99.00 but its on sale right now for 60 something.  They also carry a steel carrier thats a bit larger.

I LOVE that box truck Clyde !!!
My old box truck helped me STAY in business when I was new.
It is a rolling billboard, suggest parking it near a busy intersection when not in use, if possible >
You gonna be suprised at all the roof cleaning work you are gonna get from it!
I am Proud of YOU !!

Chris

I'm with you, I am not fond of ladders. I suggested a bucket truck to do this work and it seems like everyone shot me down on that idea.  Think about it, Pull in the driveway, jump in the bucket, t it up to the ridge and spray the back then spray the front and then you're done. Wow how can it get any easier. I understand some of the  members of this forum did not agree with  my idea about a bucket truck. Thats fine we can't all afford a bucket truck, but I can and i don't see how you can go wrong.

I guess you didn't read my post above this one you wrote ???

"Thats fine we can't all afford a bucket truck, but I can and i don't see how you can go wrong."

I really have used them before and it really dosn't work very well.  But since you have the money and can't  see how to go wrong, why not rent one for a week when you have like 10 jobs lined up and see for yourself before you buy one ???

Just trying to help bro.

Doug,

Thanks for your input on ladders. We are constantly researching this valuable piece of equipment for function and safety.

I was looking at the same thing, I changed my mind to a Articulating boom because I can take the boom around the the perimeter of the property. With a bucket truck you may be limited to have it parked in the front only, and may not reach the rear of some larger ranch homes.

It is much faster to simply put up a ladder, get on the roof, and clean it, assuming the roof is safe to walk on, and one is not chicken chit about heights biggrin
I advise that if you need a lift, rent one, unless you need it everyday ?
The roof cleaning chemical wreaks havoc with these lifts, it rusts the boom!
Only buy one, if you must.
The articulation ones are way better then a straight bucket truck.
The boom on these goes up and over the roof, and many of these lifts are powered 4 wheel drive with turf tires you can trailer to the job, and drive around the house, sometimes.
