I've been a window washer for 6+ years and I noticed that the last guy that cleaned the gutters on the house that I just did, got his cleaning solution on the windows. Let me tell ya fellas, whatever he used, it ruined the windows pretty badly. I had to break out my acid to restore the glass to normal. Whatever got on those windows was seriously, damaging to glass.
Anybody know what chemical would have done this? Could it have been a butal (sp) based product like Simple Green, Gutter Zap, Purple....?
For the record, the homeowner told me that the damage was from the gutter washing guy. There is that outside chance that the homeowner was mistaken.

I sell gutter cleaning as an add on when I bid the job, Charge by the lf. $1.00 per lf., most of my jobs average 165 to 225 lf. of gutters. If I get the complete roof, i give them a $50.00 coupon for the gutters. Yhis coupon is on my fliers. Average doing 90 % of the gutters.

What is your cleaning process "RoofKleen"? Do you clean the entire roof first before you touch the getters?

I would think that you would just make it part of the service and include it in your estimate. Gutter streaking, in most instances, is unavoidable. To leave a positive & professional impression wipe them down.

I like that idea with a telescoping pole. One of the problems with dirty gutters is that they may not be noticed much until you clean the roof. After the love rolls over the gutter you will definitely see the streaks. The home owner may mention this to you, even if they didn't oped to have this service done. If you cannot up sell gutter washing you lightly clean them regardless

We use a black streak product from the RV industry. Five gallon bucket, truck wash brush on a telescoping pole.
I actually sell a RV dealer here F-13 to clean with.
We have tried almost everything and F-13 has been the best. Potassium Hydroxide. Gutter Cleaner Pressure Tek

Just a couple inches in a five gallon bucket, telescoping pole with a truck brush on the end is the best way to do this. Lightly mist the gutter with water, dip the brush into just a couple inches of super clean, slop the gutters (don't scrub... just get the cleaner on the gutter), go about 20-30 feet, then go back to where you started applying, lightly scrub it if any, and wallllaaa. Then rinse. I've done the pump sprayer way. Takes a lot more cleaner, then you have to worry about it getting all over, and you have to clean out the sprayer. With the bucket, it's quicker, less mess and less cleaner used. We pressure wash more then we roof clean, so we do this every job. We normally do gutters when we do roof cleaning also. The love seems to work its way over in a few places and makes clean streaks anyways. And nothing worse then taking a before/after picture and having a dirty gutter show on the picture.

We generally use this dunk method as well. A mix of limolene or ripper from envirospec works for us. We made some ourselves and it cost about the same so I still order ripper from them. A lot of guys doing pressure cleaning try to use a downstreaded chem, but the bucket or direct spray pump give you more control of the strenght of solution.
When I go into giving an estimate, our estimate form has all our different services itemized on there including gutter fascia. I provide them a quote on everything I see we can clean for them with everything itemized. Works well for us, people often like everything done but in the event they dont want the gutter fascia done then, they know what the cost is to do later. We keep a copy at the office to recover when we get the call.
Someone mentioned if the gutters should or have to be cleaned out......YES!!! You gotta let the love flow brother!!! lol!!!
