Chemical coating on roof

Hey guys,

I was cleaning a roof today using Apple Cider Sauce using a sprayer nozzle similar to a water hose nozzle.  I was wondering how much chemical should you put on the roof intitially?  Should there be a lot of chemical running off the roof into the gutter or should I use a different nozzle with more of a mist spray so the chemicals do not run off the roof?  Thanks guys!

confuse Give us an idea what is alot lets say you spray 40 or 50 gals how much run off are you getting, if you have gutters you should beable to tell, a garden hose nozzle will work almost anything will but its the operator that controls the run off, alot has to do with your type of pump ,nozzle and you the operator

for obvious reasons you want as little as possible. I did one the other day where I had changed my nozzle set up and forgot the nozzles at home. 1 hour away. Luckily I had another hose nozzle and I sprayed with that. I had alot more run off than normal.

There is technique to spraying a roof for sure. Very little runoff is obviously the goal,...but it comes second in importance,...... total and complete coverage is number one as far as application goes. Using the proper nozzles along with enough surfactant and a good technique will get you good results. There is always gonna be runoff, so don't panic about that.
To further prevent runoff, make sure your first coat is fairly dry before application of the second and even third coat. Spraying a wet roof whether it be ain dampened or dampened by the mix will always create excessive runoff and it's not as effective anyhow,..so it's basically just wasted product.

Thanks for the advice guys.  I greatly appreciate it.  I know nothing can replace experience and you all definitely have it!  I will try to use a different method of spraying as well as different nozzles.  Thanks guys!!
