I've advertised in those publications before. Not one response from the ads. Personally, I won't advertise in them again. But, I suppose it is a way of getting your name out there. I've been considering the val-pack.

     You don't know me or my business practices. You can't take a simple comment made on a board and judge someone's ethics by that comment.

You have been a member for 8 days and have made 3 posts. I have over 270 posts and most of which are decent quality posts. Take some time to read some more of them before you comment on my ethics please.

I have a successful business in which I have very loyal customers and quite a few referrals. I hardly think that I am creating something on this board that is going to get out of control.

Is it maybe a bad choice of words to post on a publically viewable forum? Maybe it is? At the same time, aren't you here to learn about non pressure roof cleaning and maybe help your roof cleaning company get an edge on your competition? Do you think that most of the threads in the marketing section of this forum are that much different in concept than what I wrote? Do you realize that most of the marketing firms out there use that type of marketing with their mailers. I do because I have handled marketing for a million dollar plus business for many years. I dealt with many marketing companies and created my own marketing program for that business.

The comment I made was geared towards people that use Valpak for the first time and set themselves up for small profit margins and then are unhappy with their returns.

Often times, people think you have to discount your services way too much to get jobs and that is just not the case. I'm sure you have read some of the posts on here about the "value" of roof cleaning and some of the super low ball tactics that guys use to get jobs. It hurts all of the other roof cleaners in the area when you set the pricing structure too low. This often happens with guys who are not confident in their business practices, professionalism or sales tactics.

I'm certainly not trying to create an association of roof cleaners that are deceiving their customers. I'm simply trying to help guys that ask questions. If you feel that I am doing a disservice to fellow roof cleaners and their customers, I apologize. That is not my intention. Just make sure you reserve your judgement of people until you see the whole puzzle instead of a single piece.

Last year I was approached by phone book cover advertisers. Only two businesses of the same field could be accepted. I listed two businesses. It was a total waste. For me I am now apposed to placing an ad with anybody that calls me. It never has worked
