I know alot of dollars are spent on marketing, getting the word out. I find that some customers expect to spend alot more than we accually charge. I think most of us us the .20 per sq. ft. foot. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Has anyone left a bid at a customers home when they were not home? And did you get results

Funny....I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking that I would leave a flyer with the price that I would charge for their specific roof written on a post it note?
I think it would work.

I have left the flyer with the price on numerous homes and have gotten negative results. I have left an est. in a mail box when the home owner was out and have gotten the job.
I`ve done it all with flyers & the best is to get out there & talk one on one. Then personally hand the HO a flyer. The HO wants to see you as a person.
Be careful with leaving anything in the mail box, it may be a federal offense! And if you leave anything in the door where anyone can see it..it tells everyone passing by that "nobody is home". Just be sure to leave it where the h/o will find it but no one else will se it.
I am just starting and will not hesitate to knock on a door and ask the h/o if I can give him a "Free Roof Inspection" and cleaning estimate.
Is anyone interested in getting your 8.5 X 11 Flyers printed ? I can connect you up with a one time deal of 10,000 for only $ 300.00. using .70 paper which is high quality. The person has to order this week of 9/16/09. I`m not making a dime on this sale,I`m helping out an advertising friend that an order was canceled that he prepaid for & they won`t let him get his money back. This is for only 1 person if interested call me on my cell. 270-784-4401 & I will give you his # so you can seal the deal. Thanks Kipp

BIG Mistake here in Florida! Loots of cut throat competitors. The customer will call around and SHOP your price.
Try this "Call Apple Roof Cleaning of Tampa for a free, no obligation estimate today"!
"We have trucks working in your area, call to get a good deal NOW"
If I may, I'm new to Non-pressure Roof cleaning. But I'm not new to adverising home services. For smaller companies like myself, placemat adveritising, If its available in your area works very well. Especially near big Churches. Many people do after church lunch. Monday and Tuesday my phone completely blows up. Church bulletins work well also and are usually run by an outside agent who can group multiple listings at a package price. A few tricks about a bulletin add I wont mention here. Not Earth shattering. Just shouldnt mention. PM me if interested.
When we were new, we made roof cleaning flyers, and placed one in every free real estate magazine from tampa to sarasota florida !! All you do is go to the magazine stands where these free magazines are, take all the magazines out, stuff them with flyers, and put them back in!
This puts your message in front of hundreds of home buyers/sellers, Cheap !!
I LEAVE FLYER FOR MYSELF ALL THE TIME I ONLY GET 1 OR 2 CALLS OUT OF 100 BUT THIS IS A TOTALY NEW SERVICE UP HERE IN PHILADELPHIA AND WE ARE SLOWLY ENTERING THE ALGEA LINE. SO NEXT YEAR SHOULD BE A GREAT SUCCESS LEITH WILLDOWILDEW
I talked to the postmaster the other day about distributing flyers. I was told it is illegal to put anything in or on a mailbox that does not have postage on it, including between the box and flag. It is a $300 fine for each flyer confiscated by the post office. If it is the type of mailbox with the cubby hole below the mailbox, you can use that.
don't be surprise when the distributor of the magazine calls you to stop sneeaking those flyers, when they go back to replenish their magz, and some of their old magz still had your flyer, they'll call you. yup, guilty. it did not stop me, but i only put a few the next time, safe amount that passers by would pick up. yes, be aggressive!
i'm a newbie at this business, but alot of RE.
guy's im interested toget your feed back on what the content of the flyers would be most effective, an "eye catcher" to make them call. example; energy saving! if you get a clean roof. does it really work? comment please... thanks RJ

I get calls from 3 year old flyers guys! Just keep putting them out, even when you have work. Try to do an hours worth of flyers a day ? Pretty soon, you will be busy!

you actually get jobs by calling the customers Hoes?
i've left fliers with and without prices and i think in 3 years I've had one call from someone I didn't see face to face as a direct result of the flier. not saying its bad to get your name out there. i suspect its even more effective to do the houses surrounding a client cause then they can connect the flier to a yard sign which shows them an example of your services. I've been trying to get my clients to hand out fliers for me. its not easy. a realtor once told that to get referrals you have to EXCEED expectations. if you only meet someones expectations they aren't excited to tell others.
