By the way I think you should all go out and buy 5000 foot trailers and an 800 pound pressure cleaner and some 5 inch fire hose..... Really guys this is not an ITT Type Job Skill.  Monkeys can do this.

I used to use Flojets back in 2006.

The new 5gpm Delavan pump came out soon that year in the late fall of 2006.

It's only $129.  $10 extra is well worth the extra performance.

The difference is surprising.

If you try the 5gpm Delavan pump you will wonder why you didn't chunk out the $10 more dollars sooner.

     It doesn't cover the exact pump you are talking about, but it has good information.

     Are you already in possesion of this pump or are you planning on buying the pump?

     If you already have it and are wondering if it will be good enough to clean roofs, the answer is yes. Use it until it quits working and if you take good care of it, that may be a whole season.

     If you are looking to buy it (I don't know what price you are going to pay for it) make sure that you compare it to the Delvans. If it is only $10 to $30 more for the Delvan, it is well worth the extra money. They really are good pumps.

That pump will work fine. Just keep it rinsed. Chris stated in another thread that the surflos aren't what they used to be and I really don't know myself.

The point of the more expensive air diaphragm pumping systems is longevity, flow and maintenence. A kynar pump does not need rinsed out and can last 7 years. Mine pumps over 6gpm with 200ft of 5/8 hose, and I am only using half the cfm required, it could pump even faster !!! We did $1k roof in 3hrs. the other day and made $1800 that day!!!!

Here is the biggest difference. Many guys here work themeselves on the roof, but what if you have employees doing the work?? They tend not to rinse your pumps. There is no electric pump made of A rated materials against SH. So if your employees don't rinse, your pump will go bad much faster than it would have being rinsed.

If you plan to do roofs yourself and like the pace you are setting than stick with the electrics, they are fine, and keep a backup. But if you are running like 3 crews or are trying to grow, AOD pumps will be a longer lasting solution.

There does not need to be an argument over the type of pumps used, and the price isn't that insane on AOD. AOD pumps are what many actuall bleach factories use to move SH, because they truelly are the longest lasting solution. But it seems more cost effective for guys cleaning less than 10 roofs a week to stay with the electric and rinse. Even then there is still a question as Mallard system uses all sure-flos, and had 90 trucks in operation at one time.
