We are getting more and more NEW members that come on here at the RCIA and want to start a roof cleaning business.
They find us by doing a web search because they are "broke as a joke" and want to find a way that they can make some quick and easy money doing roof cleaning.
Once they come on and register, they quickly read some threads in the chemical section, and pump section and then start by buying the cheapest "crapola" they can afford in pumps, tanks, nozzles, etc. and they cobble together the least expensive gear without know much of anything about the ins and outs of the roof cleaning business, EPA rules and regulations, or how to protect plants and grass.
After gathering up the "barebones" essentials they throw it in the back of their elderly mother in laws broke down "Coastal Can-Hardly" vehicle that coasts down one hill and can hardly get up the next and they put 3 bucks in the gas tank and on a "wing and a prayer" and with a couple of gallons of bleach, a backpack sprayer and a mostly empty gas tank and beerbelly and SHAZZAM .......they are IN the BUSINESS of cleaning roofs.
This is the COMPLETELY WRONG approach guys.
"Doing the least with the least only makes you come up short in the end"
I realize many of you are on a limited budget. I have been there too.
However, if you are going to start this up, at least, attempt to do some of the basics right from the start and don't shortcut yourselves or your customer and other RCIA CERTIFIED Roof Cleaners in your area.
Remember this and remember it well.....
We work at heights that can cripple , maim, or kill you with one wrong step.
We use chemicals that can blind you. These cleaning agents can burn the skin and lining of your lungs if you are not taking the proper precautions.
Ladders, equipment, safety gear, a decent quality vehicle and trailer brakes, INSURANCE and a business license, along with your local BBB and Chamber of Commerce membership is all part of the BUSINESS of doing business.
Please don't short change yourself or your customer or the other legitimate, bonafide roof cleaners that take the time to learn and understand the proper method of applying chemicals, mixing procedures and using and maintaining the tools of the trade and have invested the time and money into the proper education and equipment.
The after all that effort, only to have a "Fly by Nighter" come and kill plants, "splash and dash" and ruin whole neighborhoods from ever being able to trust a legitimate roof cleaning company just because some others choose to throw ethics and integrity out the window just for the sake of the quick and easy money that can be made by doing a $hi+ty job.
Those that do this and have this LIMITING mindset are hurting ALL of US and the FUTURE of our great ROOF CLEANING industry.
Do the RIGHT thing and train yourself to be the best roof cleaner you can be and buy the right roof cleaning and safety equipment and use it.
"If you can't stand for something, you'll fall for anything"
I am trying to build a SOLID legitimate business. As owner of Roof Clean USA I take pride in my chosen work.
For me I see this as a Career, not just a part time deal.
To the deadbeaters, cheapskates, splash and dashers, part-timers that don't care (this is not directed to you "other guys that work part time but really do care about doing it "right")
Don't ruin it for me and others just so you can earn "weekend beer money"
Do your work in roof cleaning like your LIFE depends on it, because for some of us, it DOES!

If this is your first business and you are broke...this is not the easy money people dream of and without some knowledge and a plan your life is about to suck like you never imagined.
Ther is nothing wrong with being broke. I have been broke 2 times in my life and I have been a millionaire 2 times in my life. My feeling has always been to do what ever it takes to start a business the right way. Just work hard and something will happen to allow your dreams to become reality. If you have a goal and work at it , it will happen.
