Yes light colored shingles can be a pain but also clean up really nice and make GREAT before and after pictures. This is a white shingle Non pressure roof cleaning near Dallas, TX that we did around Thanksgiving 2008.

The homeowner called us and said he couldn't find anyone in the area that was reliable and needed it done ASAP because it was his late Fathers house and he needed to sell it. We agreed to do it for him for the regular price, plus gas, even though it was a 5 hour drive each way. We drove up in the morning got there at Noon, finished cleaning the roof by 2 and made it back to the office by 7:30.

Miked ..I think I know what your problem is with the yellow stain because it happened to me when I was rinsing. After I rinsed it and it dryed it almost looked like somebody spilt coffee all over the roof. It was one of my first free practice roofs for a friend and it was on busy highway. For days i kept rinsing it and it always dryed the same, I thought I would never be able to clean a roof and thought I had screwed it up. Turned out after a rain it was fine....came out real nice. But I couldnt figure out why the rain worked and not my rinsing. Then I figured it out, it was water from the spigot........but it was well water.....when i filled a gallon jug with water it was filty and yellowish. I know there are some towns that have their drinking water filtered through a filtering system......but not their gardening water. I bet that is the problem....let us know.

That is good info that others can surely benefit from. I personanlly never use customers' water if they are on  well,...simply because I've had supply and pump issues in the past at my own house and don't want to cause someone else problems,...gun shy I guess.  I carry water and I fill up at a friends house who is on city water.
But that is truly good observation and good note taking,...that is type of thing that you and others will remember in the future.

Jeff

Ooh man, if I remember correctly, it was $700 for the roof and like $100 for gas. But It may have been $700 total. I know it was around $700 somewhere.

I remember my problem took about a months time.......then all of a sudden it was gone. If you had it in some spots and now it is gone, its proof that the rain will get rid of it.I know how you feel I was there once hang in there.I went by mine the other day ....still looks great. If it really bothers you fill your tank with water { not well water } wet it down maybe throw a little dawn up there and rinse with your tank water.

If it persists, hit it with a LIGHT solution of oxalic. That should remedy it. Even white vinegar might work,..but I'd use the ox. Mix it at 8 oz. per gallon and downstream onto the roof if you have a pressure washer. If not mix 1 lb. 5 gallon pail and apply with whatever sprayer you choose.

I get my oxalic at Univar,..but it's also sold as bottom cleaner for boats and also some wood bleach is oxalic. Any acid at the proper dilution should work, but I don't want to be recommending anything stronger than oxalic.

I don't x-jet,...so use my mixing details to figure out what you need to x-jet.

I would say that if you treated the roof one more time in the selective areas containing the yellowing with a small batch of the current cleaner you used previously.

Check www.envirospec.com or ask Paul K. at www.envirospecnorth.com?

You may be able to find it locally as well.

Check with a local fence and deck or wood siding distributor or bldg. supply in your area.

If all else fails for the O.A. then do the proverbial GOOGLE search?

As far as the x-jet?

Use it and get the chit up there and working to counteract  the yellowing just before the rain?

That Roof Looks GREAT!

The asphalt shingle roof cleaning job you did turned out terrific on the light colored shingle roof surface.

That roof is PROOF that Confident Roof Cleaning in Texas makes TIRED roofs look like NEW!

Very Nice!

I hope your phone starts ringing off the hook this 2009 roof cleaning SPRING season with new customers wanting a similar cleaning experience from a real pro!

Turned out great, I bet they were happy. Here is one I did a little while back. Don't run into to many of those light colored shingles around here, but when I do it makes a big differance.
