Anyone running dual Fatboys yet?  Curious if I should go with a second one or to the air diaphragm next season.  Then again, after buying another back up pump I may as well spend the extra money for longevity in the air set up?

Sorry for the late reply about the fatboy, as for my inlet lines to the pump they are 3/4 pvc with a 3 way 3/4 ball valve to the pump, then 3/4 out to my titan hose reel to 200ft of 5/8 hose to a 3/4 ball valve. I also ran 10 gage wire to a heavy duty tractor battery so I had plenty of amps. I had an air compressor already so it was a choice to buy another delavan fatboy or just get the air diaphram pump and since Chris and also Lori had talked about them I figured I will just try it out. I ordered the yamada NDP-15FPS pump from BNP Pumps, I had it within 3 days. I used it for the first time yesterday with my regulator set only to 60 psi since it was a small roof and it was great, did very well. What I found to be nice about it, I turned up the regulator up to 100 psi and had more distance and coverage. Did not need it but on a windy day it will come in handy.

Thanks for the heads up on that starter relay, I will get me one tomorrow and change it out for my other rig that has the small delavan pump for the trailer set up, but once I get an air compressor for the trailer it will also be air diaphram pump to.

I plan on posting some pictures of my box truck and trailer with the set up if any one would like to see, thanks for the help Chris and taking the time to talk with me last week. Also Lori was very honest with me when I was looking for a air pump and referred me to the yamada pump because that was what would be best for me and not just trying to get a sell, that go's a long way with me and say's some good things about Lori and pressure washer service sales peeps.

IF you are gonna leave the Yamada Poly Pump out in the sun, suggest you armor all it ?
Or, simply cover it with tarp when not in use ?
Poly and the Sun do not like each other!

I used a small 1/4 air line from the compressor to the pump at first, but went to a bigger 3/8 air line and it helped.

A seperate air tank between the compressor and pump is nice to have, if you have room ?
How big, and what kind of compressor do you have ?
Be sure to have an air.water seperator or filter ?

No problem Chris, I know people get busy. I have mine in the box truck so it is not in direct sun light so that is good. The air compressor is a duel tank with the engine on top of it with the pump. I am running 3/8 air hose to the pump here is a link to something similar to what I am using http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=77808-67702-EC2510E&lpage=none

I was trying to upload a picture from my blackberry showing the inside of my box truck, it works really good though. I also run an enclosed trailer for one of my other guys, but I am about done with the tweaking of my box truck for a little while though, I just got done with my final changes for summer. I will tweak any thing else needed in winter.

Hopefully that answered any questions, but I still want to try changing out the starter relay for the fatboy so my trailer guy can have more power but I can't wait to get another air compressor for the trailer and be all air pumps.

i know you guys don't like green horns posting questions. i read just about every forum on this site.i hope i am not wasting your time by asking a question. but he it go's. will a fat boy-7-gpm pump have  enough power  to pump from a top feed tank to a 3/4 200' hose with a 3/4ball valve with #50 tip up the drive way and up the ladder and up the roof. lets say the roof is 32' down to the ground. will it have the power you need to spread the LOVE in a timely manner. i hope i am  not wasting you time with this green horn question. PS cant find any head chart on the hatboy...blankstare

I have a Delavan 5850 and 200' of 3/4" hose with a #40 tip and it does just fine even on a 2 story house. Not many higher that that around here. Rule of thumb for lift (learned this from plumbing) you need 1/2 lb pressure per foot of rise. There are several people using the FatBoy and they love it. I will probably upgrade to it after I get the hang of spraying well and am able to reduce run off.

Try using 3/4" hose on your FATBOY.  Look at the chart above.

Using 5/8" hose will give you a 20psi loss per 100 feet.

Using 3/4" hose will give you a 7psi loss per 100 feet.

Less flow loss means more gallons per minute = done faster and shoots farther.

It will also run smoother and last longer from drawing less amperage.

I have not had any problems with my relay switch burning out using the larger hose, valves, #50 & #60 nozzles, 10 gauge wire, & 770CCA/900CA battery.

Someone mentioned about getting a starter relay to change out if the relay on the fatboy burned up. Did anyone do it yet, I would like to change it out and put this fatboy in my trailer where we have a smaller Delvan pump. I just did the air set up in my box truck and would like to have something bigger for my other guys.

Is it just as convenient to go with the electric pump oppose to the battery style providing you always have electric at the sight?

When using the pumps do you need an Air Compressor or is the pump sufficent. I have tanks with the Love coming out at the bottom. Thanks
Frankie

The Fat Boy needs no air compressor, it has a 12 volt motor.
And next time, NEVER cut a hole in the bottom of your tanks.
Always pull from the top

I have always used Flatbed Trucks for Roof Cleaning Frankie.
I had ONE Trailer, it came loose, snapped the safety chains, and 500 gallons of Apple Sauce marinated Interstate 75's Grass!
The County Grass Cutters applauded, NOTHING grew there for months!
Now, it MAY be the reason I had problems with bulkheads leaking on my chemical tanks is because of the Flatbed ?
I dont know, but every cotton picking Bulkhead I have ever used, leaked.
That is why I like to put the feed hole for the tank up top.

Using a trailer, one may not care as much about leaks ?

But I can attest from many years experience, that leaked roof cleaning chemicals WILL mess a trucks driveshaft/springs/etc, etc up bad.
In 17 years of cleaning roofs, I have lost 3 driveshafts, and had an axle come slap out of my ford dually making a right hand turn!
I have broken springs that were rusted out from the Love.

I just wanted to throw this in here, but not ruin an excellent, ongoing thread about the Delevan Fat Boy Pump.

This has been a great RCIA Thread!

We currently use a gas engine with our pump but I was looking to go to a FatBoy since we don't exactly own our current setup.  We also use a fireman nozzle which allows us to easily regulate the flow.  In talking to Bob at PressureTek, he was saying that the FatBoy wants that flow to be all or nothing.  So, how do you adust from shooting 30 feet away to 10 feet away?  Is that just a change of the nozzle?

Thanks Pat.  I think I'm gonna find that I'm a little spoiled right now with my current setup.

Gents, I really like this setup (Yamada air diaphram & air compressor)and am looking into purchasing & installing in my enclosed trailer.  My problem will be lack of space, depending on the air compressor.  But one newbie question bothers me.....  please explain why it would or it would not be recommended to do the following:

I have a great pressure washer, may as well use it, but not to pressure wash the roof.  Instead, could I simply attach a stainless steel foaming wand to the trigger gun?  I'm researching this right now from  a specific company I've dealt with in the past.  This specific foaming wand can spray 30-40ft, as long as it gets over 4gpm of water from the pressure washer.  The wand itself has a chemical suction tube that can go directly into the LOVE, as long as you use the right metering tip for proper dilution.  Does this sound retarded, or worth looking into?  I'll try to post a picture of a sample foaming wand spraying the side of a house.  Your input is much appreciated, just don't beat me up too hard.  Thank you all!

what you are talking about is called down streaming the problem is most will dilute the love mix to about 20 to 1 the best injectors will only give you 10 to 1  the ratio you need is between 2 to 1 and 1 to 1 leave your foam injector for housewashing you need a dedicated system for roof cleaning this way the chemical will hit the roof exaxtly how you mixed it
