CEdarex ? I've spoken with the owner and will try some this season and will post my results. I'm in Oregon where moss, lichen and algae thrive on roof tops. I have used both the nasty ashamedwater based wood roof shake preservative and the superior oil based. The water based has kept anything organic from going for 6 years and has not yet faded in color. The water based makes me sick for days and stinks up the whole neighborhood obviously a poor choice. The best thing so far has been to make my own TWP total wood protection using shake and shingle oil for the main ingrediant, then Radcon of the customers prefered color. Radcon is made by amteco. Radcon contains UV protection, moss, mold, lichen, algae growth inhibetors and will keep termites and other wood eating insects from eating the shakes and or shingles. It smells good and won't make anyone sick. It last for five years without color fade. It is oil based so don't spray it so that it mists and floats in the air. Oil unlike water based will float through the air until it finds something to stick to. I turn our AR 50 pump down to about 90 psi and make it come out the spray line like rain. cost about $13.00 a gallon. Average roof uses 30 gallons. we have 120 gallon tank. Tarr oil company will not sell less than 60 gallons of shake & shingle oil at a time. 80 gal ss, 5 gal radcon, 3 gallons mineral spirits to thin so it will spray.
