My x-jet came with those on the ball valve but I don't like them. They're hard to loosen and I think they don't get as tight either.

Those are the same clamps that are used on some vehicle's radiator hoses.

My concern would be how easily they might pop open. There doesn't appear to be anything keeping the teeth aligned after you tighten them.
