I have found that people up here in N.Y. are still a little skeptical of roof cleaning. I also have found any area may accept it or refuse it rich or poor.
Thanks for that chris, I will check it out. I hope you sell lots of No pressure roof cleaning in Arkansas !!
James thanks also for the response. The ripper I use now is pretty much like using citrus.. too much and it will take the enamal off lol, I think SHC on gutters is a little rough on their finish but if it's working than go for it!!! I have to scrub sometimes too.
So lets stop scrubbing and try out this Gutter grenade. I heard good things about it before and never tried it, so now I will.
Any citrus or Butyl based cleaner is supposed to work on the oxidation stains on gutters. Such as Simple green, or purple power (both in concentrate form). We have an order of F13 from Bob at PTek, but have not gotten to use it yet.
Yes, gutters need solvent for sure as it cuts the oxidized part of the paint/enamel were the dirt is embedded. You have to strip the oxidized part of the paint to get it clean. Unfortunettly all these solvents if left on or high enough concentration will eat the rest of the enamel off as well. We used to use Selig citrus degreaser until we ruined a few gutters by accident, then we switched to the ripper as it was a little less harsh of a solvent when diluted properly. I guess i am looking for something in between. I might just try stronger ripper, but i am gonna try the grenade as well. I was hoping there was away around using solvent
The way it has been explained to me is to just work in about 10 foot sections. Spray the solution on, hit it with a dense brush, and rinse. Repeat as necessary. But do not work to far ahead or it will dry and you can damage the gutters.
This is not my experience, just how it was explained to me.
Also, I have been told to keep a can of white spray paint in the truck "just in case".

Aint that the truth! One couple may pinch their pennies to be able to afford to have their roof cleaned but they look at it as protecting their largest investment.
Another person with a VERY nice home will look at you like your trying to reach in their pocket and take from them.
I am just now learning these truths.
Having said that nothing beats really showing someone that you just did something they didnt think could be done taking years off the age of their home.
People around here JUST DONT KNOW! I want to dance on my roof and sing to the world!haha

Honest, I can teach justabout anyone to clean a roof. But SELLING what you learn here is the trick.
I agree with door to door canvassing, BUT, we always teach someone with few sales skillsNOT to try and sell, on the spot. All we want you to do is politelyintroduce yourself, say what you do and how you do it, show some before and afters, then offer a free demo IF they would like. Experience has shown that sales just HAPPEN using this approach.
You will be LESS uptight if you THINK, in your mind, you are NOT "selling anything", and so will the customer
Remember, sales is a Numbers game, don't quit after 10 calls. IF you get disgusted, here is what you do ?
Get up EARLY one morning, and WATCH people rushing in stop and go traffic, half asleep, attempting to get to a Job they HATE, on time
Wanna be like THEM
I didn't think so, so go out and introduce yourself

Hey look at that. Larry is a moderator. It's about time! The guys that offer the most and are the most knowledgable about roof cleaning should definitely be moderators on here.
Where is Jeff from Raystown Roof Cleaning? I haven't seen him in quite a while. He always offered a lot of good insight also.

The sign is a great Idea, more than I would probably want to spend just because I would be afraid of it getting damaged. It's something to consider.
