Hello all fellow Roof Cleaning Institute Of America Members,
SUPRISE!
Spring is here and it's time to start thinking about Cleaning Roofs! But before we do we must first pay attention to servicing and maintenence of pumps, motors and various other pieces of equipment, fixing leaks, repairing worn parts, etc., you know, all the normal, pre-season preventatives we all need to do to minimize downtime and to maximize productivity to earn our livelyhood cleaning roofs safely using non-pressure, low pressure methods.
Though many of US do give much time and expense toward keeping up our rigs and equipment, many of us don't spend nearly enough, and sometimes some of us save NO budget at ALL on the maintaining and continuing education of our minds and attitudes as business owners and roof cleaners.
That is why I propose, as of today, MARCH 23, 2009 that:
We, the Roof Cleaning Institute Of America, membership start to think about and plan our first (1) Annual Roof Cleaning Institute Of America Round Table.
This will be a chance to meet each other face to face and to learn and grow from a weekend filled with LOADS of sharing information, ideas, plans and strategies as I have found that we a not a GLUM LOT but instead are a Fun Loving bunch of Hard Working Small Business Owners with dreams, goals, plans, ideas, methods and more!
My proposal is to have and to HOST the first Annual Roof Cleaning Institute Of America, Roof Cleaners Round Table, down in Tampa, Florida, home of the Founder of this board, Apple Roof Cleaning's own Chris Tucker.
For those that may not know, TAMPA is a BEAUTIFUL part of Florida and there is MUCH to do and see in TAMPA as well as this would be Our way (The RCIA membership) of showing a sincere sense of gratitude and thanks to our residing Honarary Roof Cleaning Expert Professor, Chris Tucker, for starting his terrific board and for helping to raise awareness of Roof Cleaning Safely and Professionally on a GLOBAL level.
So, the next question is really not a matter of "IF" you are all up for this GREAT opportunity to network and to learn and grow and to have some fun in the Florida SUN, but I THINK the REAL question is...... "WHEN"?
I believe we should plan this event for FALL, at the end of the Roof Cleaning Season for Northerners and those that live in Colder climates.
That way everyone has a chance to work hard and SMART this SEASON, to make and to save some money and so ALL can make a reservation far enough in advance to have the hotel and airfare,(for those that need it) to be cheap and reasonable, so that way, EVERYONE can attend!
I would like to TENETIVELY plan for this WEEKEND of FUN and LEARNING to be the First weekend in OCTOBER? How does that sound to ALL RCIA members? We will take a vote on this and see if this works best for MOST of us and it will be MAJORITY RULES. If not, we will pick a more suitable time for all.
My goal is to put together a MASTERMIND group of RCIA members that will work on developing specific areas of expertise and to help them to each develop a 30 minute to 1 hour presentation of their KEY area of Knowledge in order to share with us all new and important information on a variety of subjects such as:
1. Safety and Liability: Insured or Underinsured
2. Fall Prevention:What to do, How To do it...Right...to be in compliance with OSHA
3. Roof Cleaning Marketing 101, and an advanced Marketing Mini- Workshop 202 and possibly a Guerilla Marketing for New Roof Cleaners 303 - Basic and Advanced Classes/ Mini-Workshops.
4. Pump and Motor Maintenence: Basic and Advanced Mini-Workshops
5. Roof Cleaning Rig Building: How to maximize roof cleaning performance, while, minimizing Downtime.
6. Roof Cleaning: Tips from the PRO's: A Workshop of approx. 10 Roof Cleaning Professionals sharing their strategies, insights, marketing savvy and war stories.
7. We will assemble some of the TOP VENDORS in our field of Roof Cleaning and Pressure Washing Equipment and Chemicals and Surfactants, to show off and display the NEWEST Roof Cleaning Technologies for all of us to DROOL over.
8. We will also hope to set up a few scenarios of mock roof cleaning to show various cleaning methods, tools of the trade, etc.
9. We will ALSO hopefully ALL do a member wide GROUP dinner where we will all have a chance to mingle and have some SERIOUS FUN!
Plus....that is only a SMALL SAMPLE of ALL, that will be going on during this event.
It should be a LOT of Fun and most importantly, it will be EDUCATIONAL and a GREAT CHANCE to meet all the other MEMBERS of the RCIA!
So, having said all that, who here, as MEMBERS of the RCIA, couldn't use a MUCH needed break down in the Florida sun at the END of the Roof Cleaning SEASON (at least the end of the work season for cold weather roof cleaners)?
Ok, don't EVERYONE Raise their HAND at ONCE...LOL..... SERIOUSLY though.....
It WILL be an AMAZING chance to learn, grow ,eat, breathe and sleep Roof Cleaning tech, shop, stories, expertise from a wide variety of business people from all walks for life for an ENTIRE weekend Arrive Thurs. night, then all day, Fri. will be the main all day event and then a 1/2 day Sat. WORKSHOP and then FUN in the Sun time (mini- vacation downtime) then Sunday Morning Workshops and then from 1pm till ?? more Fun in the Sun (Mini- Vacation and a final chance to soak it ALL In- both in terms of KNOWLEDGE and FUN!!!
So, HONESTLY, have I gotten ANY of you just a little excited?
Are some of you ALREADY envisioning, talking shop, one on one with other pro's in the biz and exchanging BIG IDEAS, hearing the SECRETS of the TRADE, first hand, around the wetbar at the pool?
If this SOUNDS like a GREAT TIME and you want to be a part of this GREAT EVENT then, the first step is to post in this thread and express your LEVEL of enthusiasm for participating and helping to turn this dream of mine for our RCIA group members:
So, is EVERYONE on BOARD to turn this DREAM into a REALITY! I certainly hope so as this will be a ONCE in a LIFETIME event- one surely you'll NOT want to miss!
Thanks in ADVANCE to ALL of you that are TRUE Roof Cleaning Professionals, those RCIA members who want to BE the BEST Roof Cleaning Contractors they can be and who want to always be at the head of the pack, to continue to learn, grow and PROSPER!
For me, I am PUMPED to meet all of you and to share this great learning event with you all!
My personal goal is to help ORGANIZE this EVENT and to get OTHERS to donate time and resources so AS MANY OF US AS POSSIBLE can be a INTEGRAL part of this IMPORTANT EVENT.
I have an open door policy and will work with all interested to MAKE this happen.
Call me and lets discuss this event and your participation in it!
All are Welcome!!!
An ancient CHINESE proverb states that:

I am not excited to go to Tampa Florida and it is too far for me to travel. Ahahahah! I KID YOU! I'm all for this kind of an event guys...Definetly count me in.
I'm definitly in on this!!!! The oppertunity to meet everyone is absolutly AWSUME!!!!October works great, the family usually takes off for Florida at that time anyway. This year we are TAMPA bound!!!!!
The RT that Kory is puttin on is in July Chris. You are gonna come with me! YES you ARE!!!!!
Oh, you BET. BTW, AC Lockyer of Mallard Systems in Orlando WILL be there as well, at the RCOA Tampa Roof Cleaning Roundtable! Mallard Systems will have a roof cleaning truck, and a crew there, to conduct ROOF CLEANING TRAINING as well ! AC will be involved in a BIG way with our Tampa Roof Cleaning Roundtable Dave, I spoke to AC today, please contact him, and be certain several classes are reserved for him, OK ?
Chris , try to find a hotel with a dirty roof. Then we can clean for instructional purposes for new guys and stay for free. Everyone that shows pitches in on chems. Every one learns the hotel gets clean and we party for free.

Now, that's a good idea. We could all throw in a few bucks, have some barbecue catered in, and assemble the largest gathering of professional roof cleaners in the nation! Tucker, Mike, Dave, I think you guys already know I'll be there, but just in case:
Sounds like a great idea and one that I would like to attend. BUT... October is the wrong time of year for me. My business dies aout the middle of December and picks up about mid February. I am very busy during the Spring and Fall.

We are not set in stone on this event yet. We all need to decide which month will be best NOW and then make plans to attend. If NOVEMBER works better for you as well as others then we can make the Roof Cleaners Roundtable in NOVEMBER instead of OCTOBER? Who wants to do the Roof Cleaners 1st Annual Roundtable in NOVEMBER or another month?
Speak up now so we can decide within the next month and then start to put together the details after we pick the date.
I'm very interested! I'm only about 1&1/2 - 2 hours below Tampa and October [preferrably early to mid, would be great for me! In Nov I have way too much work! Made $12,000 last Nov at roof cleaning and pressure cleaning. I'd love to meet all of you folks and especially MR HELPFUL HIMSELF "Chris Tucker" :) I could only spend a day, not overnight though.
