SO I GUESS I AM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO REACH OUT THERE WITH SOME POWER.THE 12 VOLT DOES GREAT AS LONG AS I AM ON THE ROOF.BUT AS FAR AS DOING SAY A CHURCH OR BIG BUILDING. I DONT REALLY SEE HOW I WOULD DO THAT,

I HEAR ALOT ABOUT AIR PUMPS AND THE  BANDIT,I AM NOT REAL SURE HOW THE AIR WORKS.I AM JUST LOOKING FOR MORE HORSE POWER( I GUESS).I WOULD LIKE SOMETHING AROUND THE GAS POWER THAT WOULD HOLD UP,AS OF NOW I HAVE 3 TO 4 HOUSE A DAY,THE PHONE IS RINGING OF THE HOOK,AND I DONT WANT TO SHOW UP WITH SOMETHING THAT MAYBE CANT DO THE JOB,I ALSO DONT WANT TO WASTE MONEY OR BE DOWN DUE TO THE WRONG PUMPS!!!!!!

SO ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.THANKS AGAIN

Oh yes, I can tell. You would be surprised at the difference. Shoots farther and gives you more flow, one more gallon per minute actually. 3gpm 5/8" vs. 2gpm 1/2" with #40 nozzles.

If you want to keep from spending a lot of money on a gas powered Yamada air pump rig, upgrade your hose to 5/8" or 3/4".

Or if you want to upgrade one more step, get the new 12V Delavan FATBOY 7gpm pump with 3/4" hose, #50 nozzles, another hose reel, and a second battery. So two guys can do a roof, with a third guy as the ground man.

If you are ready to upgrade even more to the Yamada air pump rig, read the threads some more about the air pump rigs or call Chris, Dave, or Jeff. They use the Yamadas.

I use the Delavans.

My hoses have brass garden fittings. My banjo poly valve has a brass garden adapter with 3/4" threads, and poly bushings at the top with a 1/4" stainless steel coupler to fit 1/4" stainless quick connect nozzles.

What size nozzles are you using?

Try a 3/4" PVC or Poly ball valve instead of a gun.  They also will increase your flow and let you shoot farther.

Eric, world of difference with the 1/2" and 5/8" flow. For thos hard to reach areas, I use a 0040 and it works fine. i can use that 0040 or a 0015, and have never had a problem.

YES, bigger diameter roof cleaning hose is better, ALWAYS.

Yes, we found this out "accidentally"
We USED to use 1/2 inch Ball Valves

They were out of 1/2 inch, we were forced to use 3/4.
Never went back to 1/2 inch after that!
There IS a scientific explanation an engineer gave me, dont remember it, except that the larger ball valve reduced turbulence  ??
The larger ball valves seem to last longer too.

Good Evening Chris,

A few questions, my friend.

Will you post a picture for all to see of how you set up the ends on the 3/4" ball valve?

You use a THREADED PVC 3/4" Ball Valve from Home Depot or Loew's, or an irrigation supply and  then you use threaded reducer couplings to get the 3/4" down to 1/2" or 3/8"  and pur on a Stainless QC on one or both ends and then your male QC with a threaded Spraying systems nozzle.

Can you tell and show pics for the newbie and those interested just how your ball valves are setup.

I am sure that would help many on the Forum out and clarify the details.

Thanks,

David

David, great idea. We use a ball valve, threaded with a threade reducer just like you mentioned. The pics are an invaluable tool for the newbies. Unless someone beats me to it, I'll post some tomorrow.

If you are using garden hose fittings on your hose buy the pvc female coupling to female hose connector it is a one piece fitting about 1.48 . Cut a piece of 3/4 pipe 7inches long glue the coupler on one end and a 45 Degree fitting then a 2 inch pieceof pipe then the ball valve then a reducer to1/2 thread. Last you can put whatever tip you want next. We make these with the ball valve to the right or left depending on who uses it. total cost less than $5

We use regular old Home Depot/Lowes 3/4 ball valves.
But we use Spraying Systems 1/4 turn quick change NYLON Nozzles
I will have to take some pictures, remind me, IF I forget ?

BS, bigger hose is better,  especially with a low pressure pump like a Delavan 5850.
The 1/2 inch hose will work, but the 5/8 works better.
