also everyone knows don't pressure wash a roof so thats an easy way around that.
Around here in Evansville Indiana not hardly anyone realizes that a pressure washer should NEVER touch a roof. So if you are confronted with the lower price guarantee, how do you uphold your end of the agreement?
my guys carry a copy of the arma page and an owens corning page that states this, if thats not enough then their idiots! always have valid back up material. people want to see stuff in writing thats why we have pitch books.
in all seriuosness, if you don't have materials or info to back up what your selling your always gonna leave an estimate. I don't want salesman to leave estimates. i want closes. i pay to much money to let my leads get closed by some low baller. if they called, they want there roof done. all you have to do is convince them why they should use you.
Why don't we all start a thread just for logging all the rejections we hear about why they called but they just wanted an estimate and how each of us overcomes them?
If we develop REBUTTALS to most every objection then our close ratio will be higher?
I never try to beat anyone's prices. If they say they have a better offer I say, "Well, then that's who I would call because I'm charging accordingly for my services".
When you start lowering your prices for what ever reason, it starts to cheapen your service. I am steadfast on pricing with an exception here and there for certain situations.
But I do realize alot of business's operate that way,...but it's just not for me.
I am not prejudiced, but... I usually stick by my prices unless they are from India or the Middle East. Then I mark them up 20 - 30%. It is in their culture not to do business unless they percieve that they got the service for a bargain. So I let them think that they got one and give them a discount back to what I would have normally charged.
got a call this afternoon for an estimate off a craigslist ad lady wanted her roof cleaned 1700sqft house 2 car garage i gave her a estimate of $450 over the phone she called me back to tell me she hired someone to do it for $99 she asked if i would like to give her another estimate under $99 i said no thank just call me when there done distroying your roof with a pressure washer so i can give you a estimate then. maby they will detail her car while there out there

Once again you all have given me a new way to think. I am one to try to talk someone down on a price they give me, so before reading this thread, I probably could have been talked down. Now I see it is actually more professional to know what your service is worth and stick to it. Good job to everyone for once again showing why this is such a great site.

That is an uniformed customer that was sold by someone just out to make a buck. Craigslist has a lot of potential but alot of the times i have found its always the cheapest price and not the quality that they are looking for. I love it when i explain to a customer that i am licensed and insured for thier protection and peace of mind , 50% say that " it dosent matter to me if your insured or not" I look at them and say "it should matter becuase it protects you from any thing uncontrolably that may happen while working on your house". That usualy gets em thinking.
I run into the whole cash price thing and I just tell them the total is the cash or check price - same difference to me. Of course the total always has tax included. "Gotta be legit to stay legit"...lol
I find that you need to sell yourself first then the product second. If the customer trust you then you could sell them "sand at a beach." It all about the trust factor, then hit them with the facts, then the service, then the price ...
