Thanks for leading me in the right direction.. After reading a lot of your post it seems like you know what you are talking about. Im sure you are helping a lot of people.Taking the trial and error part out could save a lot of money �What kind of pump would you suggest?? And also I look foward to becoming the first certified roof cleaner in NJ. Thanks for helping the new guys out..

Well, to start out, I suggest a Delavan 5800�with 5/8 or 3/4 inch hose.
From there, you can go up to a Delavan Fat Boy Roof Cleaning Pump.
Beyond that, I suggest an air diapraghm pump.
You live in Jersey, are there a lot of 2 and 3 story homes in your area ?

Hey Thats all there is. No ranch homes at all really. 2-3 stories is all we really have.. Where would I start to look for chemicals???

I suggest an air daipraghm pump because of the steep, 3 story roofs.
The 12 volt roof cleaning�pumps will be marginal trying to shoot a 3 story roof on a windy day.

Air pumps like the Yamada run off of a gas powered air compressor.

12V Delavan FATBOY is the best 12V pump, but if you want the best go with the gas powered air compressor Yamada system

I just recently made the switch from the dark side ( multiple tip pressure cleaner) I bought the yamada 5 off ebay $129.99 a used gas powered compressor $450 and 300 gal chemical tote $25 and some hose. the whole rig was just over 600 and works great. thanks to this forum and chris for starting it. I probably saved a few thousand on trial and error.

�Man, the Yamada 5 is only 1/4" in/out. How much flow and distance are you getting?
�I'm not really knocking it, but am just wondering how it's spraying for you.
Probably requires a lot less air to run, maybe you're onto something.

It's 3.4gpms. It won't need a big compressor to push it @ 100psi.

I'm sure it would shoot far enough. Probably 30 feet.

Depends how much production you want to do. The Yamada NDP-15 1/2" pumps are the best.

They'll put out 15gpm with a big air compressor.

We use Yamada NDP 15 FVT's on all our tampa roof cleaning trucks.
We NEVER use all the flow.
Our biggest Nozzles are only 5 GPM
I have not tried the Baby Yamada that Holt has.
But it looks like it will work just fine.
It requires a MUCH smaller air compressor, and is cheaper to buy.
I bet it would be all the Roof Cleaning Pump most will ever need.
I am OBSESSED with cleaning roofs, and since I have a "small wienie"� disbelief

Holt will keep us posted on the performance of the Baby Yamada NDP 5� I am sure.
Paul called me last week and told me it sprayed just fine.
Said it was almost "too easy" cleaning roofs with it.
IF you know what you are doing, roof cleaning is easy work.
I have been at this a LONG time.
If II knew of a better, more reliable roof cleaning pump, it would be on my trucks.
Until then,, Yamada all the way for me� biggrin

Yea really, keep us informed. I would love to see a video of the out from this pump. Seems very interesting. Sometimes it is the simple things that make life flow smooth.

The Yamada 5 is a 2000'sq roofs nightmare. I will try to shoot a video soon. It is all the pump you need. I am not sure that i have it tipped properly still working on that. With a garden sprayer nozzel 25' if i tipped it right i could get 30. We set up with two extensions and a 15' walkboard and run with it.��I cant compare it to anything because I used to pressure wash.� I am looking to make an adaptor mount to use on a 55 gallon drum this would keep the pump out of harms way and more compact. I should have pictures by the weekend.
