At $13/gallon, how much would be used for a 100 gallon mix?  And how much Florachem for the same mix?  Maybe assume two situations, a steep roof and a relatively flat roof.  I've just been using Dawn but would rather use something else if it's cost effective.

100 gallon mix
with ammonyx Lo
steep pitch 1/3 gallon ammonyx
normal pitch 1 quart or less ammonyx

100 gallon mix
with floramask
shingle strenth 35gallons of SH use 9oz of floramask
tile strenth 50gallons 13oz

the ratio is 500 to 1
50 gallons of SH is 6400oz divide by 500 = 12.8oz

the true cost affect is that i doesnt attack the SH no more week mix so you can apply less coat in some cases and what you dont use will still be good two weeks later

Ok I get it now ammonyx Lo, AKA (also known as) Lauryldimethylamine Oxide cas number 1643-20-5, AKA LAURAMINE OXIDE
I know what to look for now

Sorry but for us little Australians trying to work out what products are what can be confusing, different names, availability etc. You name a product and we have to spend a week trying to find it here in OZ
Most of the roofs here are about 80% tile, 20% tin (colorbond steel), shingles roofs are few and far between. The reason why I brought this subject up is that being mostly tile roofs I would need a good mix to clean them right the first time, I had my doughts about the old dishwashing liquid doing the job, when I do a job I want it done well and done right the first time, as in all business "image is your business" get it right the first time and look like a pro, go back the second time and look like an idiot.
Cheers

Billy

Thanks for all the work regarding ammonyx lo. I'll have to contact Lori and get a gallon and try it myself. I'm using a Delevan 5850 with 5/8" hose. Only way to know for sure how it will work with my equipment is give it a test. Hopefully this spring I will be able to upgrade to an air operated pump.

This new Amonyx LO Surfactant MAY make TSP obsolete ?

But TSP is TSP, pretty much, for OUR roof cleaning purposes.

TSP is at a high PH, and does slightly improve a weak chlorine/water mix, since it raises the PH a bit.

Not aware of the PH of Amonyx, yet, and if it is also stable in Sodium Hydroxide as well ?

Sodium Hydroxide  will also raise PH, and adds to the cleaning, as long as you dont add TOO much.

Maybe a killer roof cleaning chemical will be chlorine/water with Amonyx LO added, plus a gallon of Sodium Hydroxide to raise PH a tad ?

Always experiment, push the state of the roof cleaning art.

Either you or Lori have your prices way out of line. Talked to Lori this morning and she quoted me a price under$2.00 a gal., she thought!  Hope she's right and your wrongbiggrinwink.
Maybe it was just Monday morning, for both of us.
She does not have it yet but is trying to get it.

Most, if not all photos on here showing a roof being cleaned, there is what seems to be a lot of foam. Is this caused by the SH working, the Dawn, TSP or the combination of all combined. I get a small amount of the white foam, but nothing like what I see in the Pictures. Help!!

Seems to foam more on hot days, and hot roofs.

I was thinking the white foam was from the Dawn.  Any other thoughts on that?

TSP will foam too, as will most surfactants.

You can add more TSP and Dawn to your mix (especially if it's a steep pitch or tile roof) but it will weaken your SH. Play around with it.

Hint: I have one of my guys stir the mix for me on occasion while treating a large roof or steep one just to be sure nothing is separating and also to re-activate the suds.

The TSP will not weaken the mix, but Dawn will, over time.
When using TSP, it is a good idea  to add some hot water to a tank w/o adding any more TSP, to re activate the left over TSP.

It is also a great idea to re stir the tank before every job too, as you posted!
