Hello, My name is Chris Tucker, ower of Apple Non Pressure Roof Cleaning Of Brandon Florida, a suburb of Tampa. We have been cleaning fiberglass shingle, and barrel tile roofs w/o using any pressure for 14 years. I have been helping people get started in Roof Cleaning for many years.
I am a roof cleaner, not a power washer. Therefore my area of knowledge is confined to doing only one thing, cleaning roofs. I can be reached at 813 655 8777 any Sunday evening.
I will be posting many roof cleaning related threads here in the future, and I encourage you to read them, and all the great advice and experiences of the other fine people who frequent this new forum.
Here, we will all be trying to advance the state of the roof cleaning art.
Personally, I find that the mind, like a parachute, works best when open.
This is the new Delevan 5850 pump, 5.3 GPM open flow and 60 PSI capable. Viton valves, Santopene Diapraghms, and poly body ensure great chemical resistance.
Performance like this was unheard of in a 12 volt pump years ago, when we started.
This will be a great roof cleaning and chemical spraying pump. I predict it will become the inexpensive pump of choice for roof cleaning.
It also has 1/2 AND 5/8 Hose Barb factory options.
Hats off to you Delevan for listening to our needs.
One might notice that this pump will prime up to 14 feet!
What does this mean ?
It means that this pump can be used with an Apple Vari Flow system!
Below is the link to the thread telling you how to build this system
BTW, TWO of these pumps can be combined in tandem.
This means the outputs of the two Delevan 7800's are simply combined into a TEE having equal lengths.
This yields a pump system capable of 10.6 GPM, at 100 PSI!
How do we arrive at 10.6 GPM at 100 PSI ?
Simple, each pump has 5.3 GPM and 100 psi.
So, two pumps in parallel double the flow, and pressure remains the same.
Chris, my husband and I spoke to you this morning from St. Louis. First, thanks for your expertise and help in this new arena for us. Here's Craig's question for you - Seen the pics on your trucks and wanted to know what the gas air compressors are used for? Is that the way you pump the chemicals on your roof? Do you use the Delevan 5850 yourself?

No, WE do not use the Delevan 12 volt pumps. The Air Compressor power our air pumps that are 15 GPM. The Delevan is fine for 85 percent of roof cleaning companies. Many here in Tampa use the Delevan. Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa is different. We clean from 3 to 5 roof s many days, and speed is of the essence to us. Tampa, Florida has a LOT of traffic, so the 15 minutes saved per roof adds up. The Delevan when equipped with 5/8 hose is ALL the roof cleaning pumps MOST will ever need. I suggest all new roof cleaners start out with one, since they are so inexpensive. I built Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa on Shurflo, the Delavan is twice the roof cleaning pump the Shurflo was. Maybe ONE day your roof cleaning company will get to my level with 3 to 5 roofs to do per day.' At THAT time, you can consider spending 850 dollars for a Pump like mine. Plus the 900 dollars for an air compressor. In the meantime, get a Delavan, and get out cleaning roofs. You really dont want to be a fast roof cleaner when starting out. you WANT to give people time to get out to see you cleaning roofs, get more work that way. Maybe one dar, you will get to our level of roof cleaning work, but it takes time to build a roof cleaning business, even here in Deed Restricted tampa Florida.
would you send me a diagram of how to build this using the delevan pump.? I am just atarting and need all the help I can get.  dmitchstevens@gmail.com thanks mitch

Nothing is more simple than the search button. By the time we all post in reply to your question, you may have already found it with the search button. It will not come overnight, trust me, but keep reading, and any information you cant find, post away. Good luck and welcome!!
On a side note, on your signature, fill out where you are from. It helps in the fact that Florida roof washers operate different than out northern brothers such as Canada, MI, IL etc
