Some thoughts on marketing and conducting yourself in business.

There is a market for our services here in Georgia but Education is the Key to Prosperity!

Hey All,

I just had an
epiphany! I know some of you are saying you had an epipha-WHAT?

Well let me just say my mind started turning and thinking about this and that while I was just this evening putting a primer coat on a metal stand we made out of 2"X2" rectangular tubing for a 100 Gallon Chemical tank.

I have had this old faithful and originally very expensive tank with me for 12 or more years on various trailers.

Its manufactured by a company down in Florida called Tuflex and is one He** of a good tank. It has been with me thru pest control use and now serves as the main tank I use for my roof cleaning brew on my primary trailer.

As I was spraying the primer on the stand I was wondering how many of us struggle with the uneducated customer in less populated, rural areas or small towns and how it is so imperitive for each and everyone of us to handle ourselves in a professional manner and with the highest integrity. It is so critical that we don't look or come across in way that would be distasteful or un attractive to our new or current customer base.

It is my humble opinion that, having a polished, professional "first impression" is paramont to your companies future. Also have a well planned presentation is the first step toward building a business that we can retire from one day. We should never look at the short term and view this as "fast cash" or a "quick way to make a buck".

There are those of us who have studied and made substancial sacrifices to further the positive public view of our industry and our services. Yet sadly there are also those who give our service a "black eye".

We should be concious of the public outward view and the body language we receive when making calls on behalf of our business, because you truly "Never get a second chance to make a good, positive first impression.

Its my opinion that when we carry our comapny name on our vehicle or on a business card or a flyer, or on other signage, that it portrays all of us in a positive light. Think about the small cost of doing things right the first time as opposed to cutting corners up front, only to have it backfire and be much more costly on the back end.

Just some food for thought. Only my opinion. Take what you want and leave the rest.

Thanks for your time and much success to all those of who take the road less traveled and climb ladders and spray water and chemicals for money.

Regards,

Dave Westerman

Image is important.
My BEST truck of many I have built was this box truck.
It was a rolling billboard.
I even use my Tanks for lettering.
Some have had their rigs and trailers wrapped!
Image is important.'
Not a month goes by w/o customers telling me "I saw your trucks"
They even call from cell phones!

I like those pictures, they are nice.

There must be a secret to taking good pictures that I really need to know or learn.

I am working on plans to change around my trailer again at the end of the month or sooner if I get a chain of stores to clean. I also want to re-paint the trailer as there is a lot of light rust coming out and needs to be taken care of.

My plan is to get everything as new and professional looking as possible and make this year a lot better than last year!
