Here is a cedar roof that needs cleaning. It's a 4/12 pitch, single story. VERY heavy moss growth on many areas of the roof. The back of the garage roof is so thick with moss hard to see the shingles.
the house is close to 5000 sq. ft. and the garage is about 1550 sq. ft.
im part of the "sullivan" cedar cleaning gang... I wouldn't have touched it for what your saying.... win some you lose some I guess there are low ballers in every market
Of course it is all subjective as to what someone will charge. In most cases it is what the market will bare in that location.
I have cleaned cedar roofs from $1,250.00 to $7,000.00. Personally I would start at least @ $0.50 per sq. ft. but than again I don't charge by sq. ft. I charge by the job.
Then again there are some cleanings you are best to walk away from. That will come with experience.
Pricing is always subjective. Once you set the market price for your location you are locked in. People do talk.
Of course there is always some one who will come along take a job they know nothing about and under charge just to get the work.
I have run into it from time to time where a home owner says I got a quote to clean my cedar roof for such and such price.
I tell them great, call them back and have them clean it. Just keep my number and once they are done call me and I'll try to clean it the right way but will charge more because I'll have to correct their mistakes, if possible.
I tell them " you can always get a worse job done cheaper." There is a big difference between someone who will clean cedar roofs and a cedar roof cleaner. I am a cedar roof cleaner.
My point, it is easy to justify your pricing when you use logic.
Remember, people are not paying you for your service, they are paying you for results. So charge for those results. If nothing else they can always put a new roof on.
