Some use TSP and some, myself included, do not use it. It is hard to disolve in your mix and it will etch windows and ruin them if you're not real careful. The choice is yours.

Hey Sal, TSP or any other soap wasn't specifically mentioned because you weren't asking for components, you were asking how to achieve the proper percentage of S H percentage in a mix. I didn't see where you ask for the surfactant we use. Never really thought about it, but I just assumed you did your research and came up with your own answer.

I still use TSP quite often, it's a good detergent for the roof mix,..and the original. I don't like a soapy mix, soapiness isn't needed for cleaning power,..TSP will boost the mix and thicken it a little as well without all the soap bubbles. Although it will etch windows if not rinsed off,..BUT,..it is easy to keep up with and is a non issue by any responsible contractor. Saying TSP will etch glass is kinda' like saying the roof mix will kill plants if not properly handled,..well then,..you handle the mix properly,...enough said.

You're gonna see alot of "designer" soaps when reading through these forums,..but don't over think the most basic part of roof cleaning,...just pick a soap and use it,..after you get some roofs under your belt, then you can play with other soaps.

I used to use TSP and no longer do. I did not find it to make a significant difference.
