Seeking feedback on his first roof cleaning website

My Facebook friend Donny and his son who is 14 made this website www.roofcleaningpros.net and is looking for any feedback.

I suggested that he put his service area at the bottom of every page, because I think a roof cleaning website shall say what you do, and where you do it at.

I agree with the service area list below that is linked to separate pages for each area. That is really good for SEO!

Good advice Steve, I truly hate it when the phone number or contact info is hard to find

Aloha Chris,

I agree, make it simple and informative. I personally would not have that picture on my website either as it is a high pitch and he is clearly not tied off to anything. Very scetchy situation there. Todays homeowners are more aware of safety concerns and liability issues then ever before and from the looks of it that roof could have easily been done from a ladder. Just my two cents for what its worth. He is more than welcome to use any thing he likes from my website. (envirowashhawaii.com)

I am by far no expert but have learned a lot from the mistakes I have made. LOL

In todays virtual world it is all about content that educates. One has seconds to make an impression. Personally I have gone back to direct mailing, subject for another day.

I get constant contacts to and from my web site and have passed on many leads over the years. The number 1 lead getter for me has been YouTube videos! Which direct back to my web site.

That said.

The three things people want to know right up front are:

1.) Who are you?

2.) What do you do?

3.) What's in it for them?

In most cases they need to be educated. Education sells itself. I took a niche service, which I can tell you almost all home owners were not knowledgeable about, and through education turned it into a very nice niche service.

I would add a picture of themselves, there rig/service truck, good contact information, what they do and where they do it. Just keep it simple. A good blog with educational, not promotional, content.

I don't use Facebook anymore, great place to network with other providers but does nothing, for me, for business leads.

Over the years I have joined I don't know how many forums, social media etc. and the networking, can be good, also can be negative. LOL Again good for socializing if that is your goal.

From these I get more questions from other service providers about how did you do this, how did you do that, etc.

The one thing I haven't got is service leads. I cannot remember the last time I got a job lead from them. Thus I have moved on, per se. Promotional only if they are follow sites.

Your web site is your branding. The place where the potential customer can answer the three questions above.

Here is one of my web site as an example: www.cedarroofclean.com

As of January 1, 2014 to 11/28/2014 I have had 6,543 visits and 24,317 page views.

This pertains to a niche market (cedar roof cleaning) only.

Not only do you need a branding web site but you need to know what is working and what isn't. Subject for another day.

My feedback is with some re formatting you will be on your way.

Good luck
