A customer e-mailed me and informed me that "We just made it to the house and I am a little concerned. It looks like orange clay is coming off the roof at a pretty good rate. Is that normal after a power wash?" Of course the tile roof was chemically cleaned and not power washed. Any help with responding would be appreciated.

Thank you,

This is very normal, and will stop after a few good rains, leaving a beautiful clay tile roof behind.
Exactly what Chris said. It is mainly oxidation that is coming off along with the dead mold residue. They will be ecstatic after a good rain or two once the true color is revealed.

Larry, at the Bayou Club in St Pete, we did those clay roof condo's in there, with a black asphalt parking lot, and downspouts.
That red clay came down the downspouts, on the black asphalt parking lot, and looked terrible!
However, after a good summer thunderstorm, all was forgotten, except how nice the clay tile roofs looked.
Fred Flemings BBQ was close by, and I ate good, on that job!
