LOL, me either! Limonene is a degreaser, and some slate has oils in it. Another reason we never use any soaps or surfactants when cleaning slate roofs.

Yes, because I have dulled a few slate roofs, until I figured out it was all the TSP and soaps I used to use on them, in the past. I say, why chance it, when soaps and surfactants are not absolutely needed, to clean roofs with.

In fact, it is very rare that we ever use any soaps at all, on most tile roofs, because it makes the tiles so slick and slippery.

So Chris, are you saying you don't usually use a surfactant/soap on tile? If so, I can't imagine having the lack of water retension breakdown. Especially on tile.

I am not a tile cleaner, though I have cleaned a few, I'll keep that in mind.

If you clean cedar I highly recommend the same as cedar does have a natural oil content and soaps/surfactants is a big no-no with cedar for a number of reasons. I learned the hard way. LOL

It all depends on what kind of tile roof we are cleaning Eric.

We see a lot of super slippery Glazed Tiles here in Tampa. The words "Caution, Slippery When Wet" certainly apply.

Now, if you think these Glazed Tile Roofs are slippery when wet, just get some soap on the bottom of your shoes.

Yeah some of the tile glaze May as we'll be glass. Out west it's much less common. I have to use a good soap, otherwise it goes straight down with no spread or dwell time, especially Spanish tile.
