Questions on soft washing a log sided home

Hank, I just checked all of your settings. Everything is on. Maybe something is screwed up with the board.

You have NOT been blocked!! There apparently is a problem with the board. Just tried myself and had same problem. Clicked upload and got dark grey screen and nothing happened. They are probably closed today, so it may be tomorrow.

Hank, find the picture you want. Right click it and hit copy. Then come back here and right click it and hit paste. It may show up that way.

Thank you and my apologies for my tone. Wait a minute...what do you mean they're closed. I'm working today. Just completed and closed two more jobs. If I work everyone works(LOL). Thanks again.

I feel you Hank. We did 10 hrs on a metal roof today. We been on this one job for 3 weeks now living out of a motel then come home on the weekend and clean roofs.

Hi guys,

Do we have a resident guru for cleaning of log sided homes? I've been invited to supply a quote to soft wash this log sided home and to be honest with everyone I'm a little apprehensive. Unpainted wood is not my specialty so I thought I would reach out to the members for advice. My questions are as follows:

1) Can I spray this with a house wash mix?

2) If so how strong can I go?

3) Will I have to neutralize the sh and if so with what?

We have tons of homes like this up here in Shangri-La and I would like to explore the opportunity.

My suggestion is let it go. If you have never cleaned a wood sided home and are depending only on house wash mix and soft wash. There is a way it can be done but it would take different chems and I have yet to figure out which ones.
My concern would be the mix will leave a white dull haze on the wood and you won't be able to evenly cut it off.
Other concern would be getting the black stains back to an even color.
I have cleaned many wood sided homes and structures but a pressure washer was involved

Clean it with mild roof mix and then spray with OX. Just like cleaning a deck. Will look like new. Do a demo for HO and the job will be yours.

Thank you sir. I've avoided unpainted decks/wood surfaces due to the fact that every homeowner up here as their own pressure washer and no one wants to pay to have their decks cleaned properly. Can you advise me of any mix ratios for the OX? I've used it for roof rust but not on wood.

When I first started the guys on this board supplied me with info without reservation. My first roof cleaning was a risk, my first party tent(100'x40') was a risk, my first cedar clap board(painted) mansion was a risk but all were very successful thanks to the trust I have in Gary and all my other firends here on RCIA.

Best to experient. Different woods react differentl. Start with a cup per gallon, spray, wait 15 mins. If no or small reaction, increase to 2 cups per gallon. try again.

On some old decks I have used up to 5 cups per gallon to get the results I wanted. No need to rinse.
