I have a steel trailer that I plan on replacing this winter due to excessive corrosion. I have been considering an aluminum trailer. Does anyone else have an aluminum trailer? If so, how well has it held up to SH?
Marcus, if this is any comparison I hope it helps. I have an aluminum boat trailer that is in and out of salt water 9 months out of the year. Not a spot of rust on it and it is 12 years old. Luckily I have a torsion axle and not leaf springs so no rust there either. But guys that have steel leaf springs on their boat trailer, have to change them out every 3 years or so becuase the salt water tears them up even if you rinse. Aluminum trailers and stainless steal hardware are much more expensive but last much longer when dealing with salt.

Marcus, I have a 5x8 all aluminum enclosed trailer, only the axle is made out of metal. I had modified my floor with ant-slip vinyl, that way if SH spills I quickly rinse it off. Aluminum trailer may cost a bit more but well worth the money.
Aluminum trailers are definitely more expensive I have 2 quotes for them. One at $6500 & the other at $7000. The owner told me that they would corrode & oxidize.
Steel trailers are cheaper. I was quoted $3500 for a 14' x 83" that was powder coated with a steel floor & 6000 lb axles. I do not know how well the powder coat will hold up. Especially if it gets scratched. I need 6000 lb axles because sometimes I carry 250 gallons of water to sites.
The other option is to buy the same trailer less the powder coat paint $2800 and have it sprayed all over with a truck bed liner spray which would cost $1500.
Marcus: Have you looked into the bed-liner you can spray on yourself? HD has it, think its called "herculiner" I put it in the bed of one of my trucks and was very happy with results.
