Hi evertone, I have the delevans 5850 but was thinking about saving some money and try out the Everflow pump. Which one will be more reliable and last longer? I do rinse after every job. Thx Guys.
I've used both. I have one of each on the trailer now. They both seem to do the same job and last about as long. I pay more for my Delavans because Bob modifies them. I usually run the Delavan as the main pump and use the other for backup.

Hey Al, I have always used the Delavan Fat Boy. Does the Delavan 5850 shoot the same distance or put down roof cleaning solution as fast, as the Fat Boy? I had always figured that time is money and if I spend a little more money on SH for the job but in turned finished much quicker I was ahead of the game because I could squeeze in another job that day.
I agree with Marcus, I use the Fatboy and I love it. I was actually going to start a topic on this, because it has been a wide debate between 12v and air. My 12v fatboy does everything I need it to do.

I have only used the 5850 or everflo 5.5 gal pump. It gets about 30 ft sometimes more depending on the wind. I may try a fat boy. In my opinion, I don't think I need any more volume, just distance sometimes. So far the 5850 has been fine.
Ive had some 5850's last for quite some time with alot of roofs under their belts. Others have crapped out quickly without even having the fuse burn out. Ive went through alot and have wired them exactly to Bob's specs. Too inconsistant for me. Im going with Flojet for a while. They have a thermal safety shut off that has come into play a few times. Its a relief to have it start back up after it cools down. I bought a Pentaflex also. But I havent hooked it up yet. I think I will shalack it and mount it on the wall. It certainly is a beautiful looking unit.
I love my delavan 5850, it runs great with no issues. I can shoot almost 50 feet with it also. I have a spare in the truck if it ever quits.
This sounds like your a 1 arm fisherman. How come every person on the board gets 30ft but you get 50ft? Do you have a magical pump? Did you get this pump from the same guy who gave jack his bean stalk beans?
Sorry for blowing up your spot, but I would like to see this shown in a video.
This is how it is possible to to shoot 50' and them some with a 5850. Just don't get too close to the edge! In reality though, I can shoot a good 20'-25' from the gutter line to the peak providing there is no wind at all.
last season I used the 5850 and this year we moved to the fatboy (Bob's bandit setup) ... night and day difference, especially with the accumulator ... now that the wind is picking up it's almost a necessity

The accumilators Bob sells are fine, but check this out. Way back when, some guy told me he used an accumulator, but it was made out of Nylon! Well, the SH softened up the freaking Nylon, and it went Boom!
He was not blinded, or injured in any way, but it is kind of scary, when you think about it ?
Basically, you have a tank of pressurized chlorine, hanging out with you. Like I said, Bob's accumulators are allright with this, but the old NYLON ones were never designed for Chlorine.
Another reason I always suggest eye protection around this chit, and, at the very least, carry some water in an eye drop bottle, for when the chit gets you in the eyes. And, it will too, trust me.
I once had a huge ground man, he was an ex hardcore biker. He stood about 6 ft 4, and went about 280 lbs, mostly muscle. He had been a bouncer before, in some pretty rough bars.
He got "baptized" (our terminology for getting sprayed in the eyes), and dropped to the ground like a baby, crying like a bitch.
I came down the ladder like a Bat out of Hell, took out my water bottle, and eased his pain. He was "done for the day" he said, and never returned to work again either.

I clean about 1/2 tile roofs, aqnd have great need to control run off, or plants will die. Fat Boys spray great, but when you put small nozzles on them for tile roofs, they cycle too much. I know accumulators help, but what if you used a PAIR of accumulators, instead of one
That's pretty interesting Chris ... I wonder if that would work?
I typically rely on the accumulator to help me not lose prime more so than control runoff with a smaller oriface ... I think having the ball valve and a little extra surfactant control it as much as I need it to. Also we've been getting lucky and it seems every other house I do has 6 inch gutters. I'm sure if I had tile roofs and no gutters to work with all day I'd reconsider!!!

I just asked the 2 accumulator question to my friend Larry at Www.sprayingequipmentsupply.com. He's an old timer and knows quite a bit. He said it would cause to much unequal pressure. He definitely paused before he answered. I dont think anyones ever asked him that.

that's good information Chris and being that your word is pretty much gospel to me I'll be taking you up on that advice

Lol
I said almost 50 feet, it's more like 47 feet. I would be happy to oblige, what will you wager? We should make this interesting.
