If it was me and he was not in the same market as mine I would go for it and help train him. Our industry strength is based on numbers and awareness. I would be willing to bet your first thought was to go ahead and train him. Am I wrong?

I was asked last week by a person from Hawaii to train then all about the roof cleaning and soft washing business. They are from the town I do a lot of work in and offered to pay me for some on the job training.
This person is visiting for the fouth of July week and wants to work with me and pay me for picking my brain.
When I first started, I got help from Elite Roof Cleaners. David Hill said the RCIA was a brotherhood and he would train me for free if I came down for a few days. I did and it was awesome having on the job training. I have helped to train a few new people and asked that instead of paying me any money, all I ask is that they join RCIA and help contribute to the great forum. Just wondering what other people thought about this.
I wonder if it was the same guy in Hawaii that offered me a place to stay if I would come there and train him how to clean roofs. Mostly tile.I told him there were guys more experienced on here for tile roofs than me. Take a vacation and tell him to put you up while you train him.

Has this individual made an attempt to do research? I joined RCIA in 2008 and read everything I could on our industry before I even posted or purchased anything in 2011. Yeah, I'm a slow reader(LOL).

Hank, you are right. I don't mind helping train someone if at first they do research and at least have an idea as to what is going on. David, yes that would be a great idea. I would happily go out to Hawaii for a week and help this person get started.

We all get these calls, I tell them to become a premium member here then pm me for help. They never join because they dont want to pay or work for it.
I USED to answer roof cleaning questions people had by phone.
They would find my websites, or hear of me, and I would help them. I no longer do it, because it is not fair to RCIA Members. Our members pay 100 bucks a year to support this forum (it is not free)
Why should one of their potential local competitors get my ear and my help for free ?
I tell them to join the forum, read, study, ask questions. Then, and only then, do they receive one on one help from me.
I used to train people down here for free, but it slows us down, costs us money, and my time. I want paid a little for the hassle.
