They will come back. You can't even kill them with a gallon of gas and a match. It must have caught a little mist. It will re- grow new foliage. Hibiscus and Azaleas are the same way. Normally they start curling up as you come down the street. The leaves are sensitive but the plants themselves are very resilient.

This is not completely relative but a little interesting.

Those plants are NAAAASTY.....HORRRRIBLE........SHARP........TOXIC****RASH CAUSING****.....VAMPIRE.........INVASIVE SPECIES. It seems that you can't kill them permanently or so I have found. You can cut them back to the ground and can't get them to die. You can burn them chemically and they seem to retreat temporarily. They grow very quickly and are also referred to as INVASIVE. The fact that they are NON-NATIVE means that they are weeds as determined by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. You have a license to kill these!!! However, the homeowner may not appreciate that!

Be careful! They are related to poison ivy and will cause a rash if you are succeptible. A little FYI.....don't ever burn poison ivy or it's relatives. Some of us find out the hard way.
