My chem tank is currently fed from the botton and I want to change this to top feed. I don't know much at all about plumbing, so I was looking for some help on the proper tools I may need and parts I should look for.. Also, I assume a plug could be used where the current feed is, but I haven't looked that far into it yet.

If you have a bottom feed tank, why do you want to change it to top fed? Some say it will leak after a while, but I've had mine for over 2 years and no leaks yet. If you put a plug in the opening, you still have the "CHANCE" of a LEAK. If it ain't broke, why fix it?
Hey Gary, the main reason is because it's in my Chevy Silverado and I store a lot of equipment very close to the feed. I've completely snapped it before when my little giant ladder shifted after I had to brake hard one day. Now I'm scared of something like that happening whenever I drive..

Here's what I did to plumb a 55 gallon from the top. I got the idea from a thread I found on the RCIA awhile back. Hope this helps. I got everything from my local TSC except for the 8" Manwell Lid.

Nice job Barry!Do u have a strainer filter in it ?
Broke it again when I had something small in my truck that barely hit the bottom feed plumbing. I'll go to get the parts to convert this sometime this week. Does TSC = Tractor Supply Company?
