Just wanted to share this with the forum. My best friend and chief competitor just did a groupon for soft washing. He sold 117 jobs (exterior washes) in 24 hours. Here is the problem: groupon wants a 50% discount and keeps a 50% Commission. He sold a basic house wash valued at 200 for a 2000 sqf house. Overage footage costs .10 cent per foot. He's getting only $50 per house for the wash, but was hoping to upsell the roof & driveways, etc.
Turns out the groupon customers are pretty cheap and not buying the upsells. Plus he even had a great deal of existing customers buy the groupon so he's getting screwed on those deals. He even took a couple of jobs away from me that I had scheduled.
Word of warning, be very careful and consider ramifications if thinking about advertising here.

My friend owns a restaurant in Tampa, did a Groupon. The cheap groupon customers did not even leave a TIP!
Never ordered dessert or appetizers either, just wanted something for nothing! He lost his azz, never again he says!
Let's see 117 house washes at a $150.00 loss per house= $17,750.00 he could have run one hell of an advertising campaign and been way ahead. Hopefully he manages to stay in business. I don't think I could even break-even at $50.00 per house.
