Has anyone heard of a product called wash away? There is a guy using it in my area, sprays it on and washes it away...even the moss and lichen washes right off. He will do a colonial for $225.00 and a ranch for $175.00 and give you a two year guarantee. Say's he's from Florida and is up here until October then returns to roof cleaning down there. He said it will take an hour to do, he has nine homes on Saturday to do but could fit me in.................
He went as far as to call it a " degreaser " he rinses when done and he is a power washing company. He claims he does not use a power washer but he must be using somthing to " rinse " even moss and lichen But what kills me is his prices. I get no less then $ 400 for the front roof of a colonial! He also only accepts cash......nothing else. I think we all know what that means.
It is a sodium and/or potassium hydroxide based roof cleaner, see my website saferoofcleaning.com to sell against these guys, or do a search for roof cleaner recall for ways to sell against these guys
I will search thanks Chris. Does it work right away like S/H? As well?
NO, it is not right away like what we use. Sodium and Potassium Hydroxide based roof cleaners are sprayed on, then you have to wait 20 to 30 minutes. The roof turns black, and you pressure wash rinse them off. It does take pressure to rinse that chit, and that causes damage to shingles.
That's some good info on your site Chris good chit!
Thanks Joe, there is not competitive roof cleaning situation I have not faced. Some ways to sell against this kind of stuff is on my web pages. Feel free to borrow some of it because it will make you look like an expert in your market. The roof cleaner recall stuff is especially good! BTW, Sodium Hydroxide is the same stuff as Drano

I searched for roof cleaner recall and came up Jomaps M-1 Deck Cleaner. I then searched Jomaps and discovered they are no longer Jomaps. Their new name is Demand Better Products. And yes they are still selling M-1. http://www.d-mandbetterproducts.com/exterior_roof_cleaner_gallon.html

Yes, the original M 1 had much higher levels of Sodium Hydroxide. The new stuff is watered down by comparasion. Several roof cleaning franchises were and are built around these types of roof cleaners. They will clean a roof, but they are slow in comparasion to what we do, and all require pressure to remove. Often, it can take more then one application, so what do you do ? Apply again, and wait another 1/2 hour, hoping it works this time ? Or, simply crank up some pressure ?
Then, on a really steep roof, they are dangerous, because the roof gets very slick, making a pitch witch necessary.
Don't forget how harsh the stuff is on the human body. That stuff will burn the fire out of you, I burned a couple of holes in my ankle a few months ago and they are still tryin to heal up. You think a little love in your eye burns, wow hate to think about hydroxide (ouch!).
