No rinsing is the norm for me,..and not offering the option is key,..BUT,..money talks,..if a customer asks about manually rinsing,.. I simply say,.."Sure,..it will only triple your cost",..and let them make the decision. I don't say no,..I just state it's all about money.

In business,..money cures just about all.

Exception is for realtors,..they cycle enough work,..so I'm more congenial with them.

Look a job today and we spoke about my process on cleaning a roof,I explaind that we don't rinse of the product and I told her the reason why.well she said she had some one else look at her roof and they gave the complete opposed answer, they said they rinse? She did have a good question in regards to the product being left on the roof for a long period of time.....will your product hurt my roof?.What would be a good responce to her question.O one more thing this guy told her...since only one side of your roof has mold the rest of the roof does'nt need to be cleaned.

Hey everyone, I  did some test cleaning with the love and I noticed that I had to rinse to thouroughly remove the remaning algae from the roof.

In the first pic the left side was not rinsed and the right was. The algae that wasnt removed by rinsing ended up drying back on to the shingles, but when rinsed no leftover algae was present. Any comments? Thanks

LOL, I could give you a long, lenghty explanation, or the short version.

Your chit was too weak is the short version  smile

You either bought some OLD SH, or your mix ratio was not enough. Buy fresher stuff next time, or simple use what you have by going up 20 percent. So, if you went 30/70 on this stuff, go up to 50/50, and you will be fine.

Yep! I agree with you on this one. Too light of mix or some old SH..

This is NOT good practice, but let me say this. Back a long long time ago, we cleaned a roof 250 miles away (It paid 3500.00)

Turns out, several spots did not take. The guy sent us pictures, it looked similar to this, in a few spots.

The customer told us not to hurry, so we waited for another roof to do down there. It never came, and I felt bad. I called the customer, he looked at the spots on the back of his house, and they were GONE !

The  RAIN cleaned his roof, our stuff killed the algae, the rain after many months rinsed it away.

Make no mistake, if you allowed the solution to sit on the roof for 20 minutes or more, the algae is DEAD. It will simply rine away, with time. BUT, this is not how we do business. You told the customer his roof will be clean right away.

That would be nerve wracking to me too. I got lucky on a FL Hospital job in Zephyrhills I did in 2009. It was a 44,000 square foot Arch Shingle !!!GREY!!! and I wanted it done in a day, but rinsing it - man I was dreading that part, spraying it was the easy part but a roof that big it really shows any yellow or brown spots no matter the color. Very little landscape and gutters where the flowers were. I was wrapping up the last maybe 500 sqft of it and crack went lightning so I put into turbo mode, I looked like Mario up there after eating a star. I finished coating and rolled up and flushed my lines and picked up the water hoses jumped in the truck and it flat out dropped out of the sky. Once the rain was gone that roof looked nice REAL nice and we were on our way. Bad part is waiting for that payment since FL Hospital has a 90 day contractor pay out for anything outside Orlando for me.confuse

Rinsing for me is standard practice on roofs  - or portions of roofs - without gutters.

Down here, every home has a lush landscape right under the drip edge.

I charge about 25% extra, if it's a rinse job, simply because the is no way on Earth that I can walk away and let it run onto the plants anyway!

If the house has gutters, I rinse out the gutters befor I leave [ after digging a hole in the ground at the spout to contain the runoof in 1 hole and fill it when I leave. Or I bag them and take it away and put it in my property's flood swayle, to kill mosquito larvae?]

If I feel unsure at the end, I go back the next day and water again, using some Muracid to lower the overall PH, that the SH raises.

Replaced 2 dead plants in 22 years. So, I guess you could say it works?

{1st pictures from a Boca Royale job I did last month. Last picture, was the first picture I ever took, with a 35mm camera of one of my 1st non-pressure jobs. *had walmart make it digital* I had everything inside of that 1985 Chevy van. I used little Sure-Flo pumps and 3/8" ID hose and pressure washing guns I don't recommend anyone do that! SH inside a van? = DANGEROUS!

I put up a wall / plexiglass window between the front seat and the back area, but the fumes were still powerful and 1 accident could have killed me, with my 50 gallon tank of SH in the back and a 35 gallon mix tank!
