What's the problem?? We provide that to every customer. Sometimes it's hard to read people in a contact form and they may come off as being short because they are trying to keep it brief.Just be very cordial in a follow up email explaining you would be happy to do so and ask for his address. Some people just don't know the process that it takes to get a proposal
Are you denying me a little steam blow off? I already replied cordially. You can give out YouR customers info, but i refuse to invade my clients peace and privacy. I will not clean your roof and have it come back to haunt you with strangers calling your home. This thread is not so serious. I was just sayin.
I also hesitate to give out past customers phone numbers, for the same reason Ed. But I don't just give them to anyone who ask's. I make sure the person getting these numbers are " Normal " and behave " Normally " and you learn that by meeeting them and talking with them. So no, if you just Email or ask over the phone for numbers without me meeting you in person and your house, well then I can't give you any numbers. If someone called me about a job I had done by a company I don't mind briefly saying how I felt about the job completed. And in the future don't deny Ed his chance to blow off steam!
Blowing off steam is good for your stress level, but honestly, for us, we have many customers say, and I'm not kiding,"You can go ahead and use us for a reference anytime. You guys have done a great job" Those are the people that go on our list. You would be surprised how many people like to be able to recommend you. This is how Angie's list works and we get tons of work for mty painting business through Angie's list. I rarely work for a** holes so these people understand how the service business works. I would NEVER give out someones information without their permission.
Its not the point of having good referals. I have as many willing referals as the next guy Its the point of having someone expect you to just hand them over at initial contact. Why dont you save the $300 BBB membership and just list your clients name, address and phone number on your website?
