did you do this just to get me pumped up? im at over 50 roofs right now starting from febuary and guess what im not happy

Hey Dan,..Living in the cooler states is a challenging ordeal for anyone who is JUST roof cleaning as their chosen cleaning service. I don't think I could be happy with just roof cleaning income. Alot of areas are just prime for roof cleaning,..but it takes several years to really get people comfortable with knowing it can be done. In Florida,..roof cleaning is as common as lawn care and probably an easy sell based on customer awareness. BUT,.the competion is probably fierce and they probably don't have the same closing rate on jobs as guys in the north,..that is just speculation. But I can probably count on one hand the number of jobs I didn't get since I started this service in 1996 ,..not bragging,..it's just the way it is for us northern businesses,.. that haven't got the competion,...YOU have to take advantage of that now Dan,..and set yourself up for the future.

You should really consider getting a decent little washer from Lowes or Home Depot of around 4 GPM and try to get into selling some flatwork like ,sidewalks, patios,.decks etc.. In many cases you end up getting enough extra work to pay for the roof job and that seems to make the roof cleaning all profit,...

The more services you can offer,.. the more oprtunities you will have to get onto the property. While you're there doing the roof,..sell them a sidewalk cleaning,...and you can gradually move into house washing,..learn how to downstream Dan,..

Dan,..house washing is a better service than roof cleaning in the grand scheme of things,..every house has a roof,..and when you get the call for a house wash,.you may end up also with a roof cleaning. And people "have heard" of house washing more than roof cleaning,..so they're more apt to call for a house wash I believe. also houses get done routinely every couple years,..thats good recitivism. Roofs are one every 4-5 years.

There's advantage to living in the cooler states Dan,..we don't have roof cleaners and/or pressure wash guys on every corner. BUT,..we trade that off by not being able to work all season,..I actually think the cooler states are a better for both services,..ONCE you get a good name established,...I mean sure,..guys will come start up every year and try to get into the market,..but from my experience,..here in my area,..they just don't make it more than a year,..and that's a very sketchy year for most. Seems like 98% of them are just trying to hit and run,..gotta put yourself ahead of those who may offer other washing services,...

 Jeff here in Jersey if you show up with a home depot machine the customer will more than likey send you back home. Especially when they see someone like Diamond Pressure washing pull up!

Hey Clyde,.I bet alot of customers aren't even aware or care that they make big commercial trailered machines,...Are you telling Dan,..he needs a $3,000-$4,000 setup to do sidewalks and decks. I bet alot of customers think a gas powered machine is commercial.

Sure he will need to buy more hose and maybe upgrade the wand,..but a machine from Lowes with quality engine and pump will make easy money,..and give a quick return on investment.

Also remember Clyde,..this is an add on to roof cleaning,..so what he pulls up with to to a secondary job will be just fine anyhow. As you get more calls for washing services,..then you upgrade.

 Jeff if you live in my area and claim to be a power washing company, do not show up with a Home Depot machine, or a little cold water machine, yes they will send you on your way.

 Jeff you have 99% of it right, unfortunatly in Florida, the roof cleaning should be way more active then it is. Now there is work that goes on but, many feel it is a way of life and you just get used to a dirty roof, I just drove past a home with shingles about 10yrs old getting ripped off and replaced, it is sicknening to see. there is nothing and I mean nothing wrong with the roof. I am kinda getting it down here now, but I think the northerners may be a little easier to listen to the effects of roof algae and what they can do about it.

As far as lawn care and roof cleaning ,lawn guys win out way more then roof cleaners.

Jeff that was cool man thank you . But i dont want to be a power washing guy i want to be a roof cleaner. But it is what it is if i dont do 20k in may im goning to have to go back to the tree biz ill have to start from the bottom, but its my fault for giving it all up for roof cleaning I WAS BLINDED my first year in roof cleaning i got that big job 30,000 (you guys might remember) I thought it would all ways be that way i siad to my self fuck tree work!! after 17 years of being a climber, opperator sales ya know everything i just burnend out! but hey im goning to have to reach down and find that young kid in side and knock on doors and make this work. I belive in this biz and it is verry profitable.
im just one of those guys that likes the danger and feer of geting hurt being a power washing guy will just be boring.

Ok im gona take your advice jeff im gonna do it you are right a chipper will cost 30,000 bucket truck, chipper truck, stump grinder at auction 50,000 i got out of the tree cause of over head and im tired. so power washing ant that bad. just got to market it the right way i guees im in.

hey chet i dont drink plus my men were out working as well as ed thompsons guys were working too. It was for a seal n lock show. I ve been working my tail off too and i have a family of 5 to provide for as well so i need to get things done.
