Had a guy call Today to tell me we killed his plants & grass & ruined his deck!!! I'm freakin out and ran over there at 5:30 inbetween other apointmets to find about 2 1/2 lineal feet of yellow grass where something had been laying(not us) some leaves fell off of one plant(probably a little shock) & bird shit on his deck!!! I wiped up the bird shit in front of him, reminded him that I had told him there might be some yellowing but there would be nothing to worry about.

I also told him I would come buy tomorrow & shoot some miracle grow.  WTF!!!!!!!

If you do kill something, immediately put down some gypsum pellets. It will repair it quickly.

Found it, it's called Osmocote. Its a time release pellet that won't burn out anything that's already in shock. Jon

Yep I get mine at HD. $7 for a 40lb bag. Its also great for laying new sod. It helps to loosen the soil and give it much needed nutrients.

Scott when you say "If you do kill something" do you mean in the early stages of dying.  Are you saying after a plant has died that it will rejuvinate the plant and bring it back to life?  I just want to understand how long you have before using some gypsum pellets will not help.

Sounds like the pellets could be used as a preventative measure.  Throw them around the roots of the landscaping and start watering.  Would the gypsum pellets neturalize the roof mix and not require as much watering for runoff?

Thanks for the information.

Charles

From what I understand Gypsum is used to help soil " open Up " to allow other chemicals like fertilizer penetrate better.

Sorry, guess I should have clarified. Im usually posting from my phone so I keep responses short and sweet.

you have to catch it when the plant goes into shock and before it dies. It would also be good to have some on hand, say, in case you have a spill of some sort or if a valley empties directly into a bush or something along those lines.

If a bush dies, it will NOT bring it back to life. However, if grass dies, the gypsum WILL shorten the healing/growing process by MONTHS. I had a spill in my driveway once and it killed a section of grass about the size of 2 dinner plates. It had been completely dead and brown for, if I remember right, about 8 months. I put some gypsum down, watered it in and within a month or so it was lush green again.

My time frame might be off, but it gets the point across.

 Scott thanks for the reply.

Anyone have an idea about the other question I asked above in red?

Sorry, the answer is technically yes you could do that, but I wouldn't trust it fully.
