In 20 years of pressure washing the worst that has ever happened to me is getting stung by wasps.
Wellllll, I did something really really stupid. Or spacey or maybe both.
I started up my pressure washer it being a little cold and a while not starting it I had to play with the choke while keeping the trigger pulled until it warmed up. I had no lance (that's right I said no lance) and a zero degree tip. I don't remember exactly what I was doing but the next thing I know is I feel pain in my right forearm. I dropped the gun and I see a big gash in my arm and blood pouring out. I squeezed around the sides of the wound to get the water out. Got a ride to the hospital and after 4 hours, an IV and morphine shot into the IV twice (I told them the pain was a 6 when it was actually only a 2 or 3) Yippee! I went back to the job and finished what I was doing and put up the 40' ladder and went home. The X-Ray showed a lot of air in my tissue. This happened Friday and it is still weeping blood. Which is a good thing. I am loaded with antibiotics. The main worry is infection. So far I think it is going to be fine. I have a roof to clean Monday that I got through Google search!!!!!
Morale of the story is don't use the pressure washer gun with out a lance. If you do don't keep the trigger pulled while you are working on something else with your other hand. All I can do is just shake my head when ever I think about what happened. Maybe old age is making me spacey and I have to start being even more careful. Anyways it could have been worse. Down lower on the wrist and it could have torn up some tendons and higher it could have ripped into my vein.
Either way I feel like an idiot.

Just took this pic. Funny thing is when it happened it was a huge wide gash pouring out blood. I knew it would need stitches. 2 hours later it looked alll closed up. Maybe because at the time it was pumped full of water. Go figure. No stitches.

I had a back pack sprayer leak once, and chlorine ran down my back into my azz cheeks and into my ..... OUCH ! Plus, that was nearly 20 years ago, and I was still doing heavy squats 2 times a week in the Gym. We all KNOW what heavy squats do to our .... .....
Glad you are recovering well. I did that the other day and luckily I didn't have a 0 degree tip in. I had a 2512 tip in with no lance and it still hurt like a SOB.

Heavy Squats & Hemorrhoids
Overview
Hemorrhoids affect over 1 million people in the Western world each year. They are much less common in underdeveloped countries, which is likely due to the high-fat, low-fiberdiet that is more popular in Westernized countries. This diet is more commonly associated with hemorrhoids because it leads to chronic constipation and straining on the anorectal area. Other activities and conditions that cause strain in this region, such as heavy lifting, can also be associated with hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids
Hemorrhoids result from dilatation and protrusion of blood vessels and tissues into the anal canal. This occurs due to strain on the vascular system and weakness of anatomic support in that area. Hemorrhoids are classified as internal and external based on their anatomy.
Symptoms
The primary symptoms associated with hemorrhoids are bleeding, protrusion of tissue from the anus and mucus discharge from the anus. Hemorrhoidal bleeding is often bright red and appears in the toilet or on the toilet paper after wiping. Internal hemorrhoids are classically not painful, but external hemorrhoids can hurt.
Heavy Squats and Other Risks
Risk factors for developing hemorrhoids are chronic straining at stool, constipation, low-fiber diet, prolonged sitting, pregnancy, obesity and increased age. Since hemorrhoids are exacerbated by factors that cause excessive pressure in the anorectal area, exercises such as heavy squats can increase the risk of developing them as well. You should take caution when performing heavy squats, especially if you have or had hemorrhoids or if you have one of the other risk factors for developing them.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Hemorrhoids are diagnosed by anoscopy, which is direct visualization of the anus. Internal hemorrhoids are graded as follows: first-degree internal hemorrhoids bleed but do not prolapse and are visualized during anoscopy; second-degree internal hemorrhoids protrude with the straining but return when straining ceases; third-degree internal hemorrhoids are constantly prolapsed but easily reduced manually; and fourth-degree internal hemorrhoids cannot be reduced.
Treatment options include surgical excision and various other surgical therapies. Other therapeutic options include warm sitz bath, increased fluid intake to prevent constipation, corticosteroid suppositories to reduce inflammation, and pain-relieving medications or ointments.
Having guys who don't listen or are incapable of retaining warnings on things like make sure tip is FULLY seated and locked in place or make sure the gun is pointed away from poeple windows siding etc. I found that when I told them its MUCH easier to start the machine with the tip out (and open trigger which is a must) they actually listened since the machine starts up on 1-2 pullls and they no longer bitch, curse and kick the machine for not starting.
I've had guys break windows for not makin sure the tip was locked in as the tip shoots out and loose tips as they get fired over the roof to the next street away. Also had a guy walk by the machine as another was startin it, nobody was there when he first looked but the dumb-arse walkin by paid no attention and dropped paint bucket all over driveway and got a nice shot in the thigh.
I always start the machines w/tip out for saftey and ease of start.
Luckily you didnt shoot a hole in your hand/arm with a high pressure airless paint sprayer, THATS bad! Blood poisoning.

Sorry that happened to you!
I did even worse last year!
I had my 18hp 5.6 gpm 3500 psi electric start machine on my large work table in the garage.
I put a short 3' whip on it for a hose and a regular gun / wand.
I kept taking the gun on and off. On when I started it and off when it was shut down. I finally got it fixed and started it up, next thing I knew blood and pain was blasting all over my face and the arm I covered my face with. I had forgotten to put the gun back on and that 3' hose was whipping all over like crazy!
It took me a long time to heal and I have a 4" scar up my arm. Fortunately for me, it didn't get close enough to my face to rip it open. It was all bloody, and my nose was cut open some, but I didn't need stiches [I guess?] I just wrapped it in paper towels until my wife got home and bandaged it all up with a load of neosporin.
This isn't fun stuff, is it?
See what you think - - maybe we shouldn't do this kind of stuff anymore?
