Most everything you need to know will be covered in the webinars and the online test, along with a fair amount of common sense.

RCIA CERTIFICATION

Sunday March 13, 2011

There have been many Premium members that have been waiting for the new RCIA certification process to be released. It has taken a lot of time, work, and effort over the past few months, but I am proud to say the RCIA now has a new Certification in place. We will start certifying members as of April 1, 2011. Thank You for all your support here at the RCIA, and for our certification program.

Here is the new RCIA Certification Process

  • Anyone that would like to become certified by the RCIA Must first become a PREMIUM Member. (Membership is $100 per year)

  • Any member that would like to become certified must have a minimum of 100 valid posts on the RCIA forum.

  • You must then contact Gary W. and Pay $150. This is the Certification FEE.

  • There are 2 parts to the Certification Test. There is an online test, and a verbal or in person test.

  • You will be required to attend the certification Webinar/s (cost already included in Cert. FEE.)

  • After attending the Webinar/s, you will take a 50 question online test (Passing Grade is 75% or higher)

  • If you fail the online test you must wait 48hrs. Before taking the test again.

  • If you pass the online test you will need to contact Gary W. to schedule your Verbal Test.

  • The verbal or in person portion of the test will be completed with a Master Roof Cleaning Instructor.

  • There is a $50 verbal/in person test fee that will be paid Directly to the instructor.

  • The Master Roof Cleaning Instructors will be picked by Chris Tucker.

  • If you fail the Verbal test you will have to wait 1 week before you can retake the test. There is a $25.00 re-test fee payable to the instructor.

  • If you pass the verbal test you will then be added to the Elite RCIA Certified List. Any presently certified member will be grand-fathered from taking the verbal/in person test, but must pay and sucessfully complete the online tests. This will ensure everyone, new or old, has completed the same requirements for certificatiion.

Sincerely

Chris Tucker

Seeing as how I was probably the #1 moaner, that I was already certified in March of 2009, I want to also say, this all sounds fair and professional!
I knew if Chris had both hands on the riens of this wagon, we would move forward effortlessly!
Here we go!!!!
Anyone here that is not already a premium member, jump on board and become premium-where all the serious info is now and then become a Certified Roof Cleaner with RCIA.
If you wonder how important and beneficial it is, do some Google searches on Roof Cleaning and you will see RCIA everywhere you look!

Well, I certainly appreciate that making 1 person happy, was worth the Cert committes consideration!
That shows just how much this cert group cares about all of it's members!
I am happy with the cert and with the way RCIA is traveling now! { Repeat } NOW!
Thanks,
Chuck

I've gotten tons of information and assistance here. Being a premium member and getting certified is without a doubt a huge benifit to a companies bottom line. I'm just not terribly sure that 100 posts is appropriate for a certification process. I know I don't have 100 posts worth of information to contribute at this point.... does that mean that I don't know what I'm doing? When I do chime in on a subject, its because I have either something of value to add to the conversation...or additional questions to open the dialog further. I'm not trying to use this board as a social network this is business. I'm sitting at about 30 posts in the time I've been a "guest." At this rate I may not be ready to become a premium member until next year. Thats truelly sad...since RCIA is moving in the right direction. Not sure if I just make general comments on everything to get my posts up...or to just hang in there till I've met the required mark with actual valid and usefull responses.

hmm

Mitch ,
I understand your position, as far as post count goes, not sure how long you have been in the business, but if you decide to become a premium member post count will be a very easy thing to do. There is so much chatter that goes on in the premium side you won't even pay attention when the 100 mark count hits. If I remember correctly Chris T, made the 100 post count mandatory because he feel it is tied to a commitment to RCIA, it has nothing to do posting just to post like you said. I am sure he may chime in on this, I do not want to put words in his mouth. But if I may recommend anything, please join us in the Talkshoe calls here on Wed at 8pm Eastern time. It would be great to have you call in it is free and no strings attached. Come check it out.

I'd love to join you in the Talkshoe calls on Weds.   But I'm pretty sure that won't happen, except in a rare instance. I play in a Texas Holdem Tourney every Wed starting at 7pm Eastern Time.

This kinda adds to my point... 100 posts has nothing to do with certification. Maybe in some sort of board ranking... but not in a cert program. No other industry that I know of uses posts as a measure of knowledge and competancy. Paying to become a member and the ongoing webinars and yearly re-certification shows commitment to both RCIA and the industry. Manditory participation in active threads does nothing to show your competant or commited.

Don't get me wrong... I have no disagreement that each of us should contribute to the growth an knowledge that we each gain from here. But as part of certification... it just doesn't fit. If I want to be a C++ programmer (I am BTW) I don't have to post to any forum 100 comments on programming... I study, take a knowledge test...and if I pass... I am certified to program in C++ for the version of the language that I tested for. My dues is paid. Though I should contribute to open source projects and help the industry... I'm not obligated to do so. I've seen "Bump" a zillion times on here. They count as a post. ??? How does that contribute to this forum or this industry?

As for all the chatter you said happens on the premium side... again... I reiterate, I'm not here to chatter. I'm here to further my knowledge and grow my business. I'm not here to socialize...Not saying I wouldn't enjoy it... but Thats not my main concern. If I have something to contribute... I will, but posting just to post so I can get certified serves no purpose.

And I I've been in business under this name since 2001, and worked for another pressure washing company for several years before that.

hmm... think that covered everything in your response.. biggrin  1 more post behind me! LOL
