This is bothering me. When the certifications began, I was among the first group and I believe the very first in Florida to become "Certified" Yet, I see a lot of newer Roof Cleaners that have "CERTIFIED" under their names, but I don't? This does not seem fair. Please explain this publicly or just put the "Certified" listing under my name too. Chuck

Hey Chuck,..I would call or PM Chris T. about this,..I'm sure he'll fix you up. I just don't think he's on this free board as much as he is on the premium side,..and probably has yet to see your problem.
Im not sure why any say "certified" anymore. Being a premium member doesnt make you "Certified" does it? And I thought the old certs were no good now because the certification process was BS?
Well, since I and a few others got caught up in the transition, no matter what we did before was no good and now there is nothing going on with the certification because the 50 pt. standard was more important.
The deal is this, the best I can explain and I'm sure it is here somewhere.
If you were certified before, you can still carry The title on all your stuff but if you didn't join the premium member side of the forum, you will always come up as guest. Once you join as a premium member, you get the title. Now I'm sure someone who knows the rules better will expand on this.
To legitimize the organization further it was decided that the previous method of certification was not up to standards that it should have been. No one needs to be blamed for this, it's just that as organizations change, so do their protocols, structure, membership, etc... There is currently a committee working on many aspects of this organization which includes certifications among other things. I would like to see all off the "certified titles" abolished from the "post info" column until such time as all are actually certified by the new standardized testing. Exceptions would include Chris Tucker And anyone that he reccommends to stay certified. These changes are significant and worthy of our patience IMO.

Chuck; Below is text copied from a post prior to 11-1-10. Hope this explains your question.
Starting on 11/01/2010, there will be several new changes in titles on RCIA. If a person has paid the membership dues, they will carry the title of "MEMBER" and if currently certified they will carry the title of "CERTIFIED MEMBER'. Any person currently registered on RCIA, who has not paid the membership dues will carry the title of "GUEST" until such time as the membership fees are paid. A certified guest will not have the certification attached to their title until the fees are paid and their title changed. You will be carried on the official books as being certified, but RCIA will only advertise this title for paid members. Additional titles may be added as the new certification guidlines and requirements are completed and put into effect by RCIA officials.
The entire post is under certification on the home page. Gary
Ryan... true, there are committees for many things that Bruce put together and turned in nine days ago today. Knowing that I volunteered for two, I haven't heard a word. I couldn't care less about the titles at this point, but having the new certification process in place before doing away with the old process and spending way too much time on a standard that is 25pts. too long is putting the cart before the donkey.
Thanks Gary, That explains it. That's called changing horses in midstream I think? So, maybe next year, a new higher cost membership will be invented at RCIA that will make the current titles disappear and everyone will be guests except the weathiest of us? I don't see how this "legitimizes" RCIA by not honoring it's original certifications with the word "Certified" under their name. I think it does the opposite. It takes it's legitimacy down from an educational program, to a "Buy a certification Program" Oh well, sooner or later, everything gets to be about the money. But usually only big companies forget how to treat those who were with them from the beginning. If that's the way it is, that's the way it is. I will not pay x amount of dollars to make believe I am a superior roof cleaner and get a fake title. I got certified here and it was stated that certifications were on a voluntary donation basis. When the economy picked up, I was planning to make a decent donation. I would not do so now. I don't believe a title should be sold here. That shows the public that it's not for real, to me. This is all I will say on the matter.

Thanks Brett, I assume a "Premium Member" is a title you can buy for X amount of dollars? This whole thing is looking like a big future class action lawsuit? Kinda puts a sour taste in my mouth to see what it started out to be and to see what it's becoming. Sad.

What you are saying, sounds more like lawyer jargon, to explain why an organization is not doing what it originally said it would do.

It doesn't look like more than a handful of members [ oh, I guess i'm not a member? Or am I? I'm confused? ] are really happy now. It looks like someone or a few someones turned it all upside down?

Hey Chuck,..I know where you're coming from concerning your title. I am about the same as you,..I haven't paid for a premium membership and my status is still showing as certified,..so I don't understand their reason for stripping you of yours or not stripping me of mine.
Chuck, I will be talking to Chris sometime today. If he feels that your title needs to be changed I will make sure it gets changed. I would make the call myself and change it for you but I would rather check with Chris first.
That would be great! I would VERY MUCH appreciate that! I got up in a load of pain and in a not so good mood this morning, when I read all the other posts. Yours will get my day going better! Thanks again!! Chuck

Hi Jeff Nice to know I am not just looking at this all wrong! I appreciate your humor as well and hope that it doesn't backfire! But as you said, if you show as certified, while not being a paid premium member, then I should be treated the same. I think Raytown is going to fix this for me now. Have a good day! Chuck

Chuck, changed it for you. I haven't talked to Chris yet so don't blow a gasket it he wants it changed back. I hope this helps your day a little....( For now!) LOL...
When the decision was made, by Chris T., to change titles, he decided that anyone who was cerrified and did not wish to become a premium member, would have their certified title maintained but not advertised by RCIA until the time they chose to become a premium member. Chris also decided that anyone that carried the title of master roof cleaning instructor (500+ posts) would have NO changes made to their titles. RCIA is trying to move beyond the social chat forum that it has always been, to a professional trade organization that it deserves to be. If you don't feel that the information and training you have received here is NOT worth the $100.00 members fee, I really have no comment to make. Everyone places different values on different things. Numerous changes, additions, and deletions have been made since November. A new website that is very professional and beneficial. A talk radio show twice a week which helps everyone learn and interface with others, and a 50 point standard that will greatly benefit RCIA and the entire exterior cleaning industry, along with a REAL certification process that we all can be proud of. Hopefuly you can see the benefits of what we are trying to do, and come join the team and be a part of history being made.
All new certifications have been placed on hold since 11-01-10, until the new certification policies are developed and placed in operation. Please be patient. Gary
