This is the second post, the first one is out there lost somewhere in cyberspace.  This has been almost a year to get this job.  It was well worth the wait $$$$. This is a 4 part job, clean the shingles, clean the shakes, repair the broken damaged shakes and seal the shakes.

I will post many of the photos taken today, before and afters.  We are supposed to get rain tonight and I will be back over there tomorrow.  One of the last photos is taken from the front gate and you can see the very large stack of cedar shakes that will be used in the repair.  Using 316 SS ring shank nails for the repair.

Want to thank Bill Booz, AC and Bruce Sullivan for the encouragement and tidbits to help secure the job and clean this home.

The shingles were cleaned with SH, Mystranimine Ox, Green Apple and water 30%.  Switch tanks for the cedar, have some wow zinger sauce for wood, cleaned up nice, but will need a few days to kill the moss & lichen on the north side.

May have to touch up the wood again after the repairs so all the color matches before sealing.  I'll keep everyone informed of the progress and post new photos as I go along.
**edit added more photos**

Chris, thanks for the attaboy. The home is located on Lemon Bay in a private 5.5 acre family compound.  There are 5 homes there which I have been working on for the past year.

Also wanted to thank Mike Sullivan, who early on gave me information about wood cleaning.  Used this info and the information gathered from the TGS web site about cleaning cedar shakes.  Practiced on a couple of wood decks and cedar split rail fence getting the mix right. The fence I did this past summer and posted pictures.

My first post that is lost out there in cyberspace was about my dilemma with SH.  My supplier didn't show, had to go to a local pool company, there was a lady in the office that told me 5.75 per gallon.  I asked, How much? I'm not hearing very good these days, she repeated the price again.  I very nicely told her I wasn't a northern snow bird and did not want to individually fund her retirement package.  I could go down the street and get it from the supermarket for 2.99 a gallon.  She gave me the look that I must be on drugs and said, no one in town has it, we are all out or have very little, with her best upper east coast accent.  Know what I mean! Okay, I left no SH, thinking that I just might have to go to Publix and buy SH, I stopped at another pool company just in case.  I have bought pool supplies from them before.  Asked what kind of deal, he knows my supplier, told me 1.29 gal and we can get better the more I buy.  Backed my trailer, filled it up and was gone.  This SH was so fresh it was smokin' when it hit the roof.

Kind of a long answer to the short question of where is the property located.  Oh well, I'll keep it going on the progress and new photos.

These roofs can be a pain with that much growth. Anyone who hasn't done one of these yet,..be sure and look closely at it if you do ever bid one. Each and ever shingle has 1 side and 3 edges to be considered. The moss and lichen roots deeper into wood than typical asphalt shingles. These can be ALOT of work to get it right.

I am glad you got that job Ray. It took long enough! It's good to see someone do their homework, practice it on smaller jobs as suggested then rock on to the real deal. This is an excellent example for guys wanting to try new things.
