There is no category for soft wash on Service Magic. Those here using them need to contact your marketing consultant so they will add this. At present they only have power washing.
Here's the email I got when asking to add this.
Hi Brett,
I’ve already sent an e-mail to our New Category Creation Team telling them you would like this to be added.
If we get enough professionals asking for this task to be added, it will be added in the near future.
Currently, we do not offer soft wash services, only power washing for now.
But we can still do plenty of the other jobs for the roof cleaning and gutter or downspout cleaning.
If this task is added to our list of jobs we offer, we will add it to your list the moment it’s available.
Really don't see a need for that. 99.9% of people that want something washed think of power washing. When you get the referral that is when you can explain to the customer and get to the head of the competition. JMOH

I'm not going to list under power washing so a soft wash heading would be helpful in their categories. Good pont though!

A friend of mine uses them for another service in NC and has been real happy with the leads he is getting. It really helped him get his chimney sweep business going at a faster pace. I know there are some here who use SM so I can't answer that yet. I hope I can in a month or so.
As mentioned previously, I've had luck with service magic by selling softwashing rather than power washing. While they do originally search under power washing, they really don't know or care how the house or roof gets washed (at first). You and 2 other contractors simply get a lead and call the customer to bid on their request. While I have sold some decent jobs from servicemagic leads, a lot of times the customer is looking for lowest price of the 3, in my experience. However, you have to be quick because I can call people within 5 minutes and they will already be sold to someone who called them faster than I could.
What stinks is that no matter how rotten the lead, you still have to pay for it. For me it was about $12 per lead and I got about 3 per week.

It definitely helps pick up business and once you earn the customers business, it is potentially a customer for life and all you paid was $12 to speak with them. I think I will use them again this year.

Service Magic is a good tool because you only pay for each lead and there's no minimum or cap for that matter. We budget 100 bucks a month and once we get those 12 dollar leads up to a hundred bucks it shuts off. So its very easy to budget and track your ad dollars with them. YOU HAVE TO Call immediatley when you receive the lead, or you just wasted 12 bucks.

once the new cat is created they will start driving your competition to list there as well and they will send out 2 to 3 competitors on the same lead they send you. (unless you pay for direct leads) then all of your competitors will start to refine their pitch towards soft washing. If you do this it will excel-orate your competitions learning curve and hurt your ability to compete. I have experience with this.

I did the same but was thinking about the future if I want to do house washing too.
I used SM for a couple years and slowly saw there decline of quality leads(more and more price shoppers). They continue to charge you left an right and their leads fee almost doubled while I was with them. I don't remember exactly but I think a roof washing lead for me was like $30. Only had two-three calls also. Sm is good for smaller jobs like gutter cleaning but like everybody else said you have to call the client immediately or the job is gone to a competitor.
I disagree on the smaller jobs and it being better for them. If I'm paying for something, I want to land the big one, not a little gutter job! When they are already shopping primarily by price already, paying $12 for a lead is more acceptable on a $500 roof cleaning than it is for a $100 gutter cleaning.
Anyone else still using SM?

I'm using them, but the leads I'm getting are a joke. I had a few people tell me they didn't even know they where on the service magic website, I think they are sneaky when it comes to their leads (very mis-leading). I had my lead generator cut back to just my very local area, that way if the projected lead is just price shopping I'm not driving 45min. one way just to waste gas. I will most likely discontinue this service next year.
I forgot to mention, two leads from service magic I received, I had already giving homeowners prices for the job before Service Magic sent me the lead. When I called for a refund on the leads they didn't want to refund a credit. They said they did their part by sending me the lead. After arguing back and fourth I received a refund for the leads. The way I was sold on service magic was - Pre-Screened, qualified leads. This is definately not the case.
Service magic is the worst.I had to deal with another competitor that was low balling the jobs and he was driving all around south jersey to do the jobs on the cheap. I complained to service magic and they basically said we cannot do anything about that. Funny thing is the other competitor is a premium member here. Huh. Go Figure. Premium members can be low ballers too.
I cancelled service magic after about 4 months. In that time I recieved 15-18 leads which were all a joke. I cancelled my service. All I have really done is pass out postcards and the local paper ran an article about my new business. I am still staying busy from the postcards that were tossed a couple months ago. Word of mouth is helping me the most.
Barry, I feel the leads this year have been worse than last year, for sure. I've only closed 2 out of probably 20 leads this year, so I've lost money on the service. Last year, I definitely made money and it was worth a bit of a headache for a few crappy low quality leads. For example, I got 10 gutter cleaning leads in the past 2 days because everyone is freaking out about Irene. I closed ONE! The rest either did not call back or said someone else is doing it for some super low price that I couldn't/wouldn't match.
I'm currently fighting them on an Exact Match lead refund for $36 bucks for a company who requested a roof cleaning. I called them within 5 minutes and they said someone is already doing it.... ServiceMagic says that is a good lead, okay....... I'll probably cancel soon if the leads continue to be flaky.

Yeah but gutter cleaning is something that is done multiple times a year so that$12 is really nothing in that respect. Plus being I am a painter I get my foot in the door real easy when they need something done, which happens alot. That was really why I started doing the gutter cleaning to get in the door. And that measly $100 bucks you spoke of when added to 6-8 houses a day turns out to be a good day.
