How do you follow up on quotes that were given out? I recently went through my paperwork for 2010 and apparently have "left money out there", and I mean that by not following up with people who were interested in getting their roof cleaned and could not reach at a later time. Whether they decided not to clean, tire kickers, or maybe even my own competition.

Do you send a hand written, email or what?
I might be guilty of the same for last year Dwayne... I can't stand people to be pushy with me (sales folks or otherwise) so I'm not even remotely pushy with would be residential clients. For those deals that I don't get, I'm always very curious to find out if I lost the job to another company, or if the HO has just decided to live with a dirty roof. Most of the time it's been the latter which I chalk up to the bad economy or sticker shock.
I do have some ideas to get some traction from last season via a different route though. PM or call me if you'd like to compare notes?
We just went through our list of estimates from last year that we did not do the work on and sent them out a letter with a new estimate letting the home owner know of our Spring Special we have going on now that includes a free gutter whitening with all jobs booked before the end of January for a spring cleaning. This Special requires a $50 non-refundable deposit to secure their spot on our schedule. We had made phone calls first to everyone. We made about twenty phone calls the first day and actually spoke with five of them and sold four of those. The rest should be receiving their revised estimates any day.

I really like that idea. We may try something like that.
We just booked another one today. Even with 2" of snow on the ground and more this evening. It seems they like the idea of the free gutter whitening, which normally if I can't sell as an upcharge, I usually end up doing a quick version anyway. This Spring looks promising so far.
I have never done it before ,but have been thinking lately I should get peoples email address when I do an estimate. Would make for easy contact as long as you make it past the spam filters.

we ALWAYS get email addresses whenever possible ... even if i don't go on an estimate, and just meet somebody that might be interested or if i'm door knocking, i always go for it ... this way you can send out seasonal promotions in addition to your existing marketing efforts and it's just another way to "touch" your customer
