You know it's a funny thing. I just had this conversation with Matt Christopher. Large business spend hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars to create the simplest logos. Apple, cost millions. Nike swoosh, millions! There are companies that do real research on this stuff and it costs tons of $$. With that said, I think we count a bit on luck and what we think looks good without really understanding the market. Same goes for these little design places we all use. They may be good artists but true design with branding, and market potential is out of their league.

I think it is pretty, but a little confusing. Not sure they won't think that is snow on the roof.

When I did my logo I was sent four proofs. All were simple and to the point. I agree with Bill, it is a little confusing. Not real keen on the arched phone number. That is one of the main things that needs to be seen w/o having to do any guessing. Many years ago I had a sign maker making signs for me just when the vinyl lettering was coming out. The one thing he taught me was to keep everything simple and very easy to read... to stay away from any form of cursive type styles. Also, spend a few bucks for your own domain. My opinion... if you spend $$ on the logo and have stuff printed it will only cost more in the long run if and when you make the change to your own domain.

 

Do a search for Greenbox logo maker. It's free and we made our old logo that way.

ok so i played around with my logo some more and i really got it to a point that i'm much happier with it so i changed my avatar to it again lol. let me know what you think. thanks

lol i was hoping it looked like water spraying from the hose. might play with that some more. thanks gary

Hi James - I got your PM.  Keep in mind, I know nothing about logos, so my thoughts are those of a layman/consumer.

I would:

drop the Eastern shore (I love the place, especially Kiptopeke, but I'd drop it from the state on the logo)
drop the hose with the water (Gary's vidican induced fish) coming out of it
drop the green thing (sorry) sticking out to the left of NNK
drop the two stars
ADD a star (maybe bigger? maybe a 4 point?) on the Northern Neck highlighting your service areas.  (I'd definitely do this!!)

I like them a bit more simple. Then again, mine is probably too simple.

LOL! Really guys? Come on.  Let the professionals do their jobs.

They have more experience with design, graphics and visual impact. They understanding more how to brand a company's image.

My graphic artist who has 30 years experience in professional graphic design just finished my new logo and I am strong believer in you get what you paid for.
