How Many Roof Cleaners Also Do Softwashing ?

Tell us if you softwash, and what you currently use to do it. Softwashing is becoming the cleaning method of choice, as many of you are aware of.  Any softwashing pictures would be a nice start for this new softwashing forum.

Great Lakes roof Cleaning soft washes houses also. We have done a few cement sidewalks, and a couple of fancier stone entryways. Came out very nice. Still experimenting with what works best on the sidewalks.

That was all softwashed with watered down roof cleaning mix and a garden hose (we do not own a pressure washer)
My good friend larry from all surface says it is better to downstream then use a chemical pump for softwashing, but we use what we have. We are 85 percent roof cleaners only, but sometimes we hustle up a soft wash job or 2.

Most all of the Exterior Washings we do are done using a down streaming method. Pool Decks and Enclosures, House and Building Exteriors etc...are also done the same way. We do occasionally run into a job here and there where we MUST use our Roof Cleaning Pumps to apply a stronger solution to kill Mold and Algae but it is rare. All of the Decking on Pools, Concrete etc... are all done using a Surface Cleaner and all rinsing is done by using a Pressure Washer.

Chris- is your mix watered down enough to use on driveways without killing the grass alongside them?

We have been doing softwashing for a while, it works well on almost any surface, but there is a place for pressure.

We have some plastic thingamajiggys that we used to place in the sides of the driveways, still use them for really dirty driveway softwashing sometimes. But plenty of water usually does the trick, and some customers actually like the "chemical edging" LOL

I started washing houses in 1996. I've always used soft washing as the method. With house washing pressure alone won't clean properly anyhow. Soap does the cleaning and water does the rinsing,...and neither need not be applied at high pressure. Now ,...having enough GPM is a different matter altogether.

Say Hello to my little friend ( this works better when said with a cuban accent)...

Softwashing is the only way I wash 98% of all the properties Spray Wash contracts to clean. These type of electric pumps supply the needed GPM to get the job done when softwashing.

Pressure is sometimes needed to knock down dirtdobber stains down on commercial buildings, but its used more as a "touch-up" rather than a whole wash.

I do typically still pressure wash driveways.

Yes, the golf-course was softwashed

Yea Chris,..I used the roller pump set up years ago to apply soap,..and then I'd use the washer to rinse.

These days I downstream,..very simple to just have a tri-nozzle holder and have soap dispensing in fan and straight,..along with the ability to rinse. I don't even use a wand anymore,..just the trigger handle.

Jeff

Can someone discuss the procedure of downstreaming as it relates to the rinse.

My problem (ignorance) is that i don't understand filling 200 ft of hose with soap and then being able to rinse with just water. when you change tips you no longer pull the soap, but your line is filled with it, correct?

That's cool Jeff, and I imagine the roller pump lasts a lot longer with a weaker bleach solution too. In my experience, roller pumps spray like a male Cat, but not for long with roof cleaning chemical!

1/2 to 1 cup of TSP per gallon of mix w/chlorine will whiten the living chit out of concrete
