3. CHEMICALS

A- Members shall use a base chemical roof cleaning solution of sodium hypochlorite purchased in bulk (15, 53, or 55 gallon drums or fill your chemical tanks at a fill station with 12.5% SH) with a final percentage mixture ranging between 10-50% sodium hypochlorite to water depending on the type of roof, surface, and severity of the mold, mildew, algae stains, gloeocapsa magma, moss, lichen, etc. Or members shall use Delux Cleaning Systems- Bleach Wash powder as a base chemical for roof cleaning and follow their mixing directions.

B- Members shall become educated on the safety and usage of sodium hypochlorite concerning the environment- it's effects on landscaping and ones health by reading and learning in the RCIA forum and education / safety section of the 50 point standards of certification by the RCIA before attempting to clean roofs.

C- Members shall mix their roof cleaning chemical solution by filling their chemical tanks with water first, followed by chemical.

D- Members shall use RCIA recommended surfactants included with the sodium hypochlorite solution. Members using only sodium hypochlorite and water for roof cleaning would not be considered acceptable by the 50 point certification standards of the RCIA.

-Surfactants are compounds that lower the surface tension of a liquid, allowing easier spreading, and lowering of the interfacial tension between two liquids, or between a liquid and a solid. Surfactants may act as: detergents, wetting agents, emulsifiers, foaming agents, and dispersants.

E- Members may use, but are not required to add additional detergents or additives to enhance the roof cleaning chemical solution, that are recommended by the RCIA. The final mixture ph balance of the roof cleaning chemical solution shall not exceed 12 for cleaning asphalt shingle roofs. Exceding a ph balance of 12 will result in a solution that is too corrosive, and detrimental to asphalt shingle roofs, voiding the roof's warranty.

-Example: Members may use Tri-sodium phosphate, isopropol alcohol, or Professional Business Guide's recommended additives. Levels of TSP shall not exceed 4 ounces per gallon of the final roof cleaning chemical solution. Levels of isopropol alcohol shall not exceed 1.28 ounces per gallon.

F- Members shall fully research which chemicals are incompatible with sodium hypochlorite, which chemicals not to exceed the RCIA recommended percentage and avoid using them at all or in excess depending on the chemical in their final roof cleaning chemical solution.

-Example of chemicals to avoid adding: Ammonia, ammonium chloride, strong acids, anti-bacterial dish soaps.

G- Members shall research local laws regarding the usage of Tri-sodium phosphate to confirm if it is allowed in their area.

Ok yall,

I have copied and pasted all of these points into a document on my computer.  The document will be 6 pages, one page for each section and one for introduction.

I will clean these points up and get it purdy. Once its cleaned up I will post it here for all board of Directors to read. If there are no objections at that point I will Post it to the Members section for ratification by the membership.

Ratification will be by 2/3 rds vote. Whomever votes on it wither 10 or 200 I will levy the 2/3 factor against that vote. I will give it 48 hours for ratification so that it will be dated December 25th 2010 as our Christmas Present to the roof cleaning world.

I am going to post a teaser in the prem and reg areas so everyone knows SOMETHING is going to be unveiled in the premium section for members to vote on. Hopefully that will make sure we have a good amount of members present Thursday and Friday to vote.

Thanks,

AC

Voting? We did that already for this. It was my understand when listening (mostly) to the show, that AC was taking the 50 pts. and come up with 25, as he stated in the chat window a few times. And yes, thanks for making sure that people know that we WILL have two separate documents/items. One will be the "standard" we will "pledge" to adhere to and the other will be what we need to accomplish to become a certified roof cleaner.

I like the way this is moving Chris!

Correct. It has to go before the BOD first then Mis Kim is going to proof read it. Then it will be posted for vote and one week will be given.
